18 F--KING INCHES OF SNOW !!!!!

It took me almost 2-HOURS to go a total of 9-MILES getting home from work today.

I must say that the BLIZZAK snow tires performed wonderfully all the way home.
Most of the time was sitting in traffic waiting for a tow truck to pull some cars off their roofs on RT-378.
I saw a nice new Caddy with the rubber pointing toward the sky.
Busses and 18-Wheelers were stuck everywhere.
Once I got out of the city I was fine on the back roads even though they hadn’t been plowed or cindered one bit.

I saw two Ford Expeditions off the road, down an embankment in different spots.
I guess their owners learned the hard way that nothing will go around a corner at 40-MPH on ice and snow.

Here is a picture of my car after the trek home.
Follow the link for some photos of my house and the beautiful tree covering that Mother Nature left me today.

18 inches of snow

DAMN your car looks like it went to a major snow pile, you can't even see the road lamps. Well we had snow earliar this morning but by noon it was all sunny and didn't even looked like it snowed.

It's easy to see by the position of your wipers that you just wanted out of your car after that long slow dangerous trek home. We got about 8" of very wet, heavy, and way to slick snow. Driving home, while much shorter than your ride, was superbly eventless even going 50mph on Rte. 80 on the stock rubber.

Now my pertinent question. What kind of digicam do you use?

Thanks …

I didn’t use a digital camera.
I took regular photos and then drove back into town through the snow and ice to have them developed in 1-hour just so you guys could see them without delay.

But seriously…I used my Kodak DC-290 Digital. Great camera !!!!
The original shots were taken at 2,240 x 1,500 resolution, then I shrunk them down to 1,000 x 670 for sake of those like me who still use a dial-up connection.

The lighting was less then perfect for these so they are not the best example.

Check out this one for a true HIGH-RES shot of my car when it was a bit cleaner.
Warning, it’s about 800K.
Click on the “thumbnail and then again on the photo for the HIGH-RES shot.

Good looking pic Shawn, I also have a Kodak. DC480 to be exact, I love it. To bad we don't live closer, we could pimp our red rockets together ;-)

In my immediate area I only got like 6 inches luckily.

Surrounding areas got around 20 inches.

Western Mass. and Southern Vermont get slammed with 25-30 inches. OUCH.

Good thing I parked my purdy CL in the garage well before the storm...

Damn Soopa! Get that dog inside!! Man oh man...that is a lot of snow. I live in Socal now so I will never see anything like that as long as I am here...but I feel you guys. I was born in Crawford, NE and we would get a lot of snow there too. I was young, but I still remember getting stuck in the snow in my dad's jeep grand cherokee. Drive safe out there!! The last thing we need is another cl crash picture.

I took me 6 hours to go 7 miles on the last stretch of my 20mile drive home from work. It was pretty much park and shut off the car an hour, then go about 1/2 mile, park for an hour...etc. Damn i had to pi$$ real bad!!

The f'n tractor trailers couln't make it up the slightest inclines and were jackknifing all over the expressway (Rt 309), and with all the traffic backing up no plows could get anywhere, and the snow was falling at 2" per hour.

With 42K on my MXV4's my car did pretty good in the ice/slush/packed snow. I did eventually stop and put my chains on for the first time and they really helped.

I heard there was a 14-MILE BACKUP on I-78 Eastbound last night with all the stuck 18-Wheelers.

Driving to work was no problem this morning.
They did an awesome job on the roads overnight.

This is what I am saying right now. I had enough of that when I lived in Omaha, NE for over 10 years total of my life. Oh well, now I am here in big D where we scorch everything in sight during the summer.

Oh well, it is nice today, 70 degrees and sunny as can be! I think I will go enjoy it later!

Ya know, I've lived in Canada, the Buffalo New York area, Houston, Okla. City, Albuquerque and, Salt Lake City and I like the weather in Buffalo. I like to ski and we get plenty of snow 20 min. away in the resorts, I live on L. Erie so I can boat all summer in 80+ weather from June-most of August and big plus: the ground don't shake, slide, burn or flood! So yeah, gimme Buffalo any day over LA, and the southwest. BTW-we don't get water rationing laws slapped on us preventing us from washing our cars, nor do we get prevented from burning a nice hot fire in the winter b/c of cold air inversion problems (albuquerque & slick city) In fact, we live at the terminus of the greatest fresh water source in the world, so I don't worry about where my drink of water is comin' from (hmm, regurgitated sea water anyone?) LET IT SNOW!

I took yesterday off to go to the Phila. car show. I drove to my friend's house in Newtown and that was where I spent the next 12+ hours. We were actually dumb enough to try to go to the show anyway in his 400HP (modded) Camaro Z28. We got 50 feet and couldn't move. A neighbor had to help us push the car back. I could have taken my car but I didn't want to. As it turns out, that was a good idea since Newtown got close to a foot of snow and the plows didn't dig us out until after midnight when I was finally able to go home.

I guess it works out because otherwise I would have been stuck in the gridlock rush hour that went from 2pm to 8pm in the Philly area.

I’m going to the Philly car show on Saturday.
My CL-S will be staying at home.

My friends fathers 1988 4-door Olds is more suited for parking on the mean streets in Philly.

Hmmm..... no water rationing here.... despite the fact we get 12 inches of rain per year. Nor any "no-burn" days

BTW... Tucson survives SOLELY on groundwater for drinking. Yes, groundwater, not the CRAP water (Colorado river water) like LA, Phx, Vegas, etc. I guess that's just another benefit of being surrounded by 5 different mountain ranges... plenty of snow-melt runoff for plenty of fresh drinking water!

Shawn, those don't look like TL rims. Are you deceiving me??

Last week I was outa town and missed the "blizzard", this morning, they called for a dusting.... 6 inches later... no plows, no sand, no salt, no nothing. I wish they would make up their minds. I'm officially done with winter. It's over tonight!

They sure are. What are you getting at?

I can’t wait to get them off though.
I’m getting tired of driving a car that handles like a Buick Roadmaster.
