15 K service
Just had this service done yesterday; doesnt seem like a lot is done---I change my own oil with Mobil 1 so didnt have them do that. Cost was just over $100 for the svc. What have others found---is this high, low, or ok??

They do a transmission fluid change as well, you just have to look closer at the receipt. I didn't think they did much as well, until I looked closer at the receipt. The transmission fluid changed is kind of disquised in there.

they don't do much for the 15k but that's not the point. if later on your car acts up, at least you have proof that you've been diligently servicing your car at the recommended times. that way, acura can't say it's neglect and make you liable for whatever it is. at least you get a free car wash.

Oh, and you're right about the free wash. Though I normally do 'em myself, $175 for an oil change and a wash is ....

I don't mind paying for service, so I did the 7500 check and was $169- for rotating tires, checking fluids (yippee), oil change, checking wipers (yippee), test drive (yippee).
I'm not doing the 15k check, only doing an oil change every 3-4k miles....its a lease- why should I give a shit anyway.

Think of the 15K service like this:
You drop off a family member at a local Voodo chief (for a scheduled checkup). (You know it's time for a Voodo check-up, 'cause a Medicine man bone toss pointed to your hut.
You let the Voodo priest dance around your family member for an hour, and you stay in good standing with your tribe.
This is the exact same thing that happens at the Acura 15K service. They dance around the car laughing at the easy money they're making. Smear a little grease on the hinges while they sneak a few beers in. Then top off a 'hard day' by checking your fluids, looking at a few rubber boots here and there, and finally the chief Acura Medicine Man circles the car three times while saying "ooga booga."
You know owe them $175 to keep you in good standing with the Acura tribal council
BTW -- if you know a bit about mechanics, you can "prove" that you had the proper work done by buying any lubes or parts that need changing. Have the corner service station change the lube, and find a cool place that will let you look around under the car (my guys will let me if I don't make a fuss about it). Drag the Helms along, and keep some notes. Buy a folder and put your parts receipts in it, with any notes that your write down at your own maintenance sessions.

Yeah well when they burn a $30k hole in your pocket to receive this family member from them, you'd think it would be a little easier to stay in good standing with them throughout the years.
