1399 code with new aftermarket coils and denso plugs last year now missingr
Bought the coils a few years ago and never put them in until last year.$35 off eBay for the set of six. Probably a bad mistake. Denso plugs were purchased from RockAuto so they should probably be good. Installed them all at the same time. Now I got the missing problem after a year for the last few weeks, I thought initially it was because of all the rain but the air filter won't get any water get up into the intake. Initially the problem would clear up now it's all the time. Acts like it's running on five cylinders or maybe less. A little bit better after the car warms up. But still missing overall.
When I had the old boy at AutoZone who is a little bit younger than me older than dirt put the scanner on it, and told him he said that mostly the used cars dealerships use those cheap ignition coils to just get it down the road. Or if he was trying to sell me something?
1399 says coils, plugs, EGR valve, or fuel injection problem.
I don't know how to isolate it except to do it with the one by one take out the coils and do a resistance ohms check one by one.
What are the chances it could be the EGR valve I've been using the same gas for years from BJ's? Mix half 87 and half 93. More or less. Calls for 91.
Like a dumbass I never saved any of the old OEM Hitachi ignition coils.
Going to the two boneyards soon an hour away in Orlando to get other parts for her 09 TL and my car.
Issue is should I get a couple ignition coils for my car or should I should buy a whole set and be done with it because I don't want to be broke down on a long trip out of town if these other aftermarkets will fail soon after? I can bring the ohms tester to the boneyard.
Everything from Hitachi remanufactured made in Japan they claim but who knows where they were remanufactured from with a lifetime warranty to denso new made in China to aftermarket made in China. They all claim lifetime warranty but I don't trust any of them. Any thoughts and thanks in advance.
Can't trust anybody nowadays.

Ebay for important car parts like this is a crapshoot.. i would trash all of that and get a set of Delphi Coils https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...tion+coil,7060
NGK Iridium should have been the Spark Plug of choice, not Denso: Non Type S CL: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=7212&jsn=1207
CL Type S: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...choice=0-0-0-1

It's not uncommon for newer coils (even Denso) to fail within or just over a year. Because I like to be proactive and replace parts before the fail (sounds like you do too) I pretty much keep every electronic part I replace unless it has been tested in a way that definitely marks it as a failed unit.
You can buy the Hitachi coil here, at under $40, it's currently a great price: https://a.co/d/0XxMio5
