I guess the UR pulleys do make a big difference because that's the only thing you have that is different from my setup. 105 mph trap speed is sick. My best trap speed was 103.73 mph.

BTW: You said this was your last run. What times/mph were your other runs fo the day?

The new pulley should be in with a week (hopefully) and I'll tune for it imediately. After that I will be heading to Atlanta Dragway the following Friday. So expect times in two to three weeks.

I don't know if I can beat that ET though. I'm sure I will trap much better but that short time is not something I will repeat on street tires.

 

Imagine the ET if it was 40 degrees cooler!

Of course, the 60' time would have been worse, so maybe not so much better overall.

Yea, but I don't think I can lay a 2.1 down on street tires. I expect my short time to be at best a 2.35.

I am shooting for 110+, maybe 112 MPH.

The problem is that Atlanta Dragway isn't the fastest track out there. It isn't always well prepped. It is in the south so heat and humidity are a problem. Also, the track also sits at about 1200 - 1300 feet.

I might need to head down to Silver Dollar Raceway which is in central Georgia. But is 2.5 hours away.

 

man, I gotta hit those sub 2.1 60's.

 

Did you spray off the line? if not, at what RPM did you hit the funny stuff?

 

I think you'll hit 112mph - you probably have the same or more hp than I did last time; that was at ~1K elevation

on the 13.2 run i sprayed out of the hole. i did a slight tb, waited until i had traction then i rolled into WOT. it hooked up really well that run.




i will be posting the 5 slips along with how i launched, shifted and sprayed each run.

Can either or both of you comment on the UR pulleys that mattg has on his car? It is very obvious that they make a noticeable difference because we have the same setup EXCEPT I have AEM pulleys & mattg has UR pulleys.

I know that the UR pulleys replace the crank pulley while the AEM does not. I have heard that when you change the crank pulley you can cause problems because of the harmonic balancer or something like that. Is there any fact to this, or is it just a myth?

The AEM doesn't do anything. The UR is lightweight and underdrives the accessories. On the issue of whether its reliable etc. I haven't heard of any detrimental effects caused by the UR Pulley itself - several members have done oil-analysis etc. I don't attribute a significant improvement to the UR Pulleys - not more than 0.5mph in the 1/4-mile. I have done a lot of reading on crank vibrations/harmonics etc. after all my clutch problems and have come to realize that the pulley design is critical to long-term engine reliability. To those taking the car to 6.8K RPMs... its not a big issue. To those pushing the limits (7.2K and upwards), it could be a problem!

So, would I recommend it to the fellow enthuasiast - YES, if they are running NA and don't necessarily want to race the car to achieve its 100% potential. If you are running FI or want to push the limits of the motor, don't do it.

It should be clear whose suggestion to weight above the other. I doubt Darrin could spell turbo let alone build a custom system.

Allmotor is basing his opinion on experience when pushing it on this engine. He certainly has this and other experience in which to make an educated opinion.

But honestly it is unknown at this time. We'll have to see what occurs later when engines are pushed with the pulley. It might be just fine; or it may not. But without significant equipment and testing we will just have to wait.
