1100 RPM Idle rough?????
I have noticed that at an idle of precisely 1100 RPM the car shakes midly and i notice the engine sounds not quite as smooth as any other RPM. (Rough idle at precisely 1100 Rpm) Has any body heard of this before or experienced it before? Also noted when accelerating somtimes the car boggs, only periodically. Very difficult to replicate ... (possibably at the same rpm? When the car gets finished with the short bogg session, the car takes off like nothing ever happened. The bogg is only noticed from a start and not while rolling) any ideas???? Thx Rob
On a side note I've had the accuater replaced only after showing the tech the printed version of how to check the accuater and what exactly to look for. Prior to seeing the paper he could not find anything wrong.... He took the time with me and found that the accuater was indeed faulty periodically. It was replaced and the power loss just prior to vtec was cured.... Many thanks to those who were involved in the how to check and what the techs need to know for checking the accuater..... Thx again, Rob

Rough idle
I just bought my car two days ago it's an 03 the charcoal color and six speed but no navigation. I have the same prob but really gave it much thought but seeing that you posted this thread it raised a red flag. But what to do? I'll give it some time to see what happens. Also being that you have some of the mods I'm interested in can you tell me why you choose the aem cai as upose to the comptech one. and is it loud as hell or what also can you tell me if your car has the factory fog lamps. Thanx man also not sure how to get back to the exact thread I'm new Send me an email if you can rolly7007@hotmail.com thanx

If I can remember, the timing belt was done when the car was in while replacing the accuater. It sounded like they replaced the timing belt tensioner if I can remember right ... on mon I will call and see if the timing belt recall was done on the car. Will make appiont ment as well. BUT, I've found that here in the forum there is more knowledge than what is in the Acura Service in many places. Will follow up need to find the answer to this...
Rolly I'll email u seeing that you might not make it back to this thread

I have owned several Acura's and one Lexus SC400. Every Acura I've had has had the same vibration around 1,100 rpms. The Lexus is smooth as silk. When I owned my '91 Legend, the issue was reported to be a problem in the engine mounts. They were replaced but the problem only improved slightly, not entirely.
My '03 six speed has the same issue. The dealer replaced the flywheel which improved the symptoms dramatically. It seems as though there is a balancing issue within the engine.
I know that Lexus balances all engine components together when assembling their engines. I thought Acura did the same. However, it seems not. All components are probably balanced but not together.
Remember the Lexus add with champagne glasses balanced on the hood? Acura could never compete with such an add.

I notice it most when the car is warm. without a doubt everytime, if i can manage to get exactaly at 1100 the car does the jiggle. I hate it....... also, i noticed when downshifting into 2nd when i finally put the clutch in to come to a complete stop the car's idle drops to around 250 and feels like it is going to die....... then pick up and idles smooth at about 750 rpm... any help there?
Sounds like this is a bigger prob with all acura than i thought.

Just in case...
Released September 19, 2003
Product Update: Timing Belt Auto-Tensioner
Safety Recall: V6 Engine Water Pump Recall
Background
Product Update: The timing belt tensioner is filled with
oil to dampen oscillation. Due to a manufacturing
problem, the tensioner oil can leak. If enough oil is lost,
the timing belt loosens and causes engine noise.
Safety Recall: All vehicles not yet repaired under
service bulletin 02-022, Safety Recall: V6 Engine Water
Pump, are also eligible for this product update. They
are identified on a separate campaign responsibility
report. Effective immediately, discontinue the use of
service bulletin 02-022, and use the repair and
warranty information in this service bulletin instead.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
All owners of affected vehicles will be mailed a
notification of this product update. Customers will
receive one of two notifications, based on whether the
vehicle was already repaired according to service
bulletin 02-022. Examples of the customer notifications
are at the end of this service bulletin.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
One of two corrective actions is appropriate, based on
whether the vehicle is affected by the water pump recall
and, if so, if the recall has been done.
1. If the vehicle is affected by the recall and the repair
has not been done, inspect the casting die number
on the water pump housing. If the casting die
number is “9,” replace the water pump, the timing
belt, and the timing belt auto-tensioner.
2. If the vehicle is not affected by the recall or it was
already repaired, replace the timing belt autotensioner.
