The 110 MPH CLS' wall...

Yep, it is the same 110 MPH....

At the drag strip, I was maxing the 3rd at 110 MPH once I shift to 4th the CLS feels as if I hit a wall and no more pull... actually, it is sudden drop in G force...

It sucks we have 2 overdrive gears... This is where the CL-S 6 shine!

1/4 mile traps at 95-96 MPH.. which is the average... I think Gtech pro/Competition will record a 100MPH... so maxing at 110 is not big deal just wait a 1 or 2 sec and shift then lift off.... Brake....Turn right pick timeslip....etc...

I did not push it beyond 110 to see if headers help, but trust me once you shift to 4th... it suden death of pull.... :o

well it shouldnt matter what car u drive if u hit fourth gear before the quarter mile than dont take it to the track

driver should only shift to 3rd right before hitting the quarter mile

R u imlying that on the 1/4 mile strip we should be only using 2 gears....?!!! Or is 3 gears....?

I believe the CLS 6-speed would be in 4th before the 400m mark? right,or no?

on the auto cl-s you should be well into 3rd gear when crossing 1320 feet line

3rd @ 110??

On the 6spd, end of 3rd (around 7200 rpm) is approx. 92 mph. I hit 4th for about 7-8 mph beyond that. My traps are around 98 to 100mph. 4th (even on the 6spd) feels like a dog. I can only imagine what the auto feels like at the end of 3rd and 4th gear!

Im not sure...but i think the car not pulling after 3rd has to do with your cold air intake..screws with preprogrammed a/f ratios...but it may be not that complicated. I noticed that this happened when i put mine on. My car when it used to have the stock air box pulled much harder after 3rd

this is weird...so yer sayin the 6-speed, altho much quicker off the line, is slower than the slushbox above 90???

with that rationale, the slushbox should catch up fairly easily once the 6-speed goes into 4th

can 2 people do a 0-120 comparo test and describe what happens??

No, actually, it's the overdrive gearing of 4th.

Wtf are you smoking?

I think the 6speed will and should be faster in at any speed. Gearing and HP.......

Your car must be fucked, because I just raced a Jag XK8 and won this weekend and the OBX headers make a big difference in 4th. I pulled strong all the way to 145 before shutting her down. The sound of CAI and headers are amazing at that speed!!!

Black CLS wait till I get new Yoko ES 100 tires...(BTW, What do not you like about them?)

I know it is 4th gearing.. I am not saying otherwise... However, at redline (7000) in 3rd engine output is 220 WHP...shift to 4th (4500 rpm, not even in Hi-lift VTEC mode) and the engine output is 160 WHP ... a sudden loss of some 60 WHP!!!....

You see what I am talking about

Nothing! They have less road noise than stock. They handle way better than stock I almost feel like my car has sways! They perform excellent in the rain no hydroplaneing. I can barely get the car to chrip from a stop.

How much did you pay?

i'll second the notion on the car falling on its face in 4th gear (headers not installed yet, so we'll see). It's just the other 'fast' cars i have/had didn't hit that wall to well above that. 4th in the std. camaro, mustang runs to 125ish, and 3rd gear in the autos to about 130. They pull really hard all the way there, and then are falling off after that. The CL-s feels strong through 3rd but 4th is not impressive, so far.

It may be slower in 4th, but with a redline shift in 3rd (around 112 MPH) and in 70-degree weather, my car will get up to 130 very quickly...
