Jetta 1.8T = 7.7 (M), 8.9 (A)
Jetta VR6 (2.8L) = 7.8 (M)
3.0CL = 7.6 (A)
3.2CL = 7.2 (A)
3.2CL-S = 5.9 (M), 6.7 (A)
Really, none of the Jettas should beat any CL. They could keep up if the drivers of the manual Jettas are as good as the test track drivers.

Well, I'm pretty new at this, but maybe it's the Custom Mesh Grill or the Autovation Racing Pedals... ??? I know for a fact that a cool sticker (ie, a VTech sticker on a Civic DX) adds at LEAST 15-20 HP (depends on the wind direction)...

stock for stock it would be close if the jetta is a stick with a good driver. They run low to mid 15's stock. With a chip they can run mid 14's. A lot more depends on the driver in the jetta of course.

3.0CL + Headers + CAI + Exhaust + Ignition = CLS

Believe it. My 99 Tl with Injen intake, obx headers, full cat back magnaflow exhaust, iridium ik20's, UR Crank Pulley dusts stock type s' all day. ASk Rondog, he has witnessed me destroy many a stock type s. I even hang with his modded S for a lil before he pulls. Off the line its close, until i hit second in vtec then i take off like a bat outta hell. Off a roll i can woop on a stock S rather easily. Especially passed 100 i even give modded s's a run because i can hold 3rd till aboput 125

If i was buying in 2002 i would have obviously purchased a new type s. There were TL's between 99 and 01 that werent type s'.

It won’t be CL-S it will be………….. 3.0CL + Headers + CAI + Exhaust + Ignition
You are forgetting that CL-S engine...has different compression ratio compare to CL-P
Otherwise engine sizes are the same 3.2 VS 3.2(that’s a no-brainer)

I'm talking about my 98 3.0CL w/ J30A2. I know the engine sizes and compression ratios, I was just agreeing with the other poster that with just a few mods, the 3.2CL can be as fast as the CL-S.
I know my displacements damnit! :P

First, you completely misread my post and call me out on it. I correct you, and now you further insult me. If you would take 30 seconds out of your meaningless life to zip over to Comptechs website, you could see for yourself the dyno results. A J30 3.0CL with the mods I listed above will make approx. the same HP to the wheels as a stock J32 CL-S. In addition to that, a 3.0CL is 300lbs lighter than a CL-S, which amounts to an additional 30hp difference between the two cars. I apologize for not being able to afford your wonderful Type-S car - but you sir, are an asshole. Read the facts before your speak, or one day it will get your in trouble.

PS: apology accepted.

Take your apology and shove it up your ass. Then reread all my posts so you will understand when a 98 CL whips your ass.

Read my post w/ the 0-60 times. Even my 3.0CL is faster (almost even tho) 0-60 than either of the manual Jettas. A 3.2 should hand one it's ass. I'm talking stock for stock here...any mods would have to be addressed seperatly.
