1/4 mile times (E-town, NJ)

I went to the track todayat Englishtown, NJ. The weather was around 90 I think.

Here's what I ran(out of 3 runs):

R/T .919 1.033 .764
60' 2.3222 2.340 2.473
330 6.481 6.530 6.645
1/8 9.830 9.887 9.989
mph 73.02 73.23 73.57
1000 12.775 12.795 12.889
1/4 15.256 15.253 15.338
mph 91.33 92.04 92.51

So, what am I doing wrong. The first two runs were in manumatic and the last was in full automatic. I power break to a little over 2k rpm. For reference, I ran a 15.39 before I got the headers.

The only good thing that came out of tonight was I beat a Saleen Mustang....but only cause they guy REALLY didn't deserve the car nor know what he was doing.

Please help. Shouldn't I be somewhere in the 14's? Thanks.

you should also learn to gateshift. then you can run that bish up to 7200 rpm's.

Not good. With headers you should be atleast in the 14s.

I don't think anything should be wrong with his actuator (worth checking though) but it sounds like weight (stereo), heat, and maybe first time at the track were reasons for the low times. Although I do admit that the traps were a little low. I was trapping 92 I think when I ran BS in simialr weather (80s).

How do you guys run your car other then via gateshifting, like launch and shifting wise? Thanks for the help. I only ran 2 times before yesterday and appreciate all the help I can get.

Must be the gate shifting thing and temperature. the 2 10s probably don't weigh that much b/c the magnets on those W3s aren't very heavy duty. Even in that temperature I figure you should be running high 14s. Also, what time of the day were you running? I'd never suspect that at night NY could be 90 degrees outside. Even in Texas it gets down to about 80 or so in the evenings.

Not sure how much the shifting has to do with it.. maybe a tenth or two... but the weight of your system and the heat/humidity has A LOT to do with your times.

When we were there last November (my first time ever on a track) I ran the equivalent of about a 15-15.1 second 1/4 mile (only ran the 1/8 mile due to wind... so that time is a speculation) with only an Injen intake. Keep in mind that it was like 50 degrees out with low humidity.. so that makes a HUGE difference... especially on our cars. Go back in the fall when it's cooler and the humidity is lower and run the same way you just ran and I bet you'll be in the high 14's no question.

Nothing is wrong with your car... you just ran in tough conditions with added weight....

I ran in pretty warm conditions a couple weeks ago, and the best I could do was 14.7x, at 95. My best (in my sig) was in April, with the same setup in my car...much cooler conditions.
