Looks nice.

I take it the specs are either wrong, or the car weighs 1800lbs.

Maybe you weren't looking at the GT edition of the Legacy... 250 hp + 250 lb/ft fairly low down in the RPM range.

I was very impressed...until I saw it in person at the auto show...It doesn't look as good in person. Plus the interior (which is much better for a suby) isn't that great. It still has that suby lack of quality feel

Drool. Faster than a 350z, rx8, 330i, boxter-S according to the site.

I'll defer saying "I'm going to buy one" until I see the interior in person.

But I'm soooo glad Subaru has raised the bar!!!

I agree. In person, it's not as impressive as it looks in pictures.

But, it's a great car nonetheless!

and that's without a chip

I would guess we are talking about 25-30+ hp and 50+ ft lbs from a chip on this car. Throw in an STi turbo and chip and 350 hp380 ft lbs. I really want to see this one in person. I think it looks awesome in pics. Funny how the people who've seen in lost interest in it. Either way, this car is definitely going to wake up manufacturers and let them know what people want......to Audi/BMW, a powerful, fun, good looking car that isn't $40k+. To Acura, take your awesome engines and trannies, and use AWD!

That "250hp" figure is bogus. 0-60mph 5.5 seconds and pressumably weighing a minimum of 3400lbs (disclaimer: weight from 2k4 GT model) it'll have more like 300hp. I cant think of any other 250hp sedan weighing 3400lbs that's anywhere near as quick (Maxima 6MT-255hp & Altima 3.5SE 5sp-245hp included).

been waiting for this baby to come out for years now.

rumors have pricing at ~26K (which should be about right), and the possibility of a B4 version coming out later on in the year.

The SRT4 has more like 256hp+ given that they dyno at 215whp (assumimg 16% drivetrain loss):

Isn't it possible to just swap these pieces out, since they are already available? I'm fairly sure the HIDs wouldn't be THAT difficult, however the transmission may take some effort.

I still believe the Legacy is an extremely nice car for it's price point.

We already have an STi for the Forester (at least in Japan). Looks the same as the USDM Forester XT with added 6MT, 18" wheels, Brembro big brakes, front + rear LSD, and STi spring/sways and body adornments.

The stock S4 5sp is only about as quick as a stock CL-S 6MT (or Maxima 6MT): 5.9 sec (6.5 automatic). (Given my avg 1/4 mile time, I'm running about 6.5 seconds 0-60 in my auto 255hp Maxima.)
http://www.audiworld.com/model/s4/01/specs.shtml

The Z (being referred to by Subaru on that site) runs 0-60 in 5.5 seconds (Motor Trend) so the new B4 (Leg Turbo) is clocking <5.5 seconds. The stock S4 isnt doing that with 250hp.

It's when you chip it that the beast awakens the potential of the S4.

0-60 on the S4 can be as low as 5.5 with a hard launch. I've seen it listed anywhere from 5.5-5.9 in mags. Either way, it's not the best number to look at as its a small number and factors that infuence it affect it significantly. Temperature and driver/launch are big factors. I've seen a stock S4 run a 13.8@99, magazines show a low of 14.1@97 as far as I've seen. So I'm pretty confident the car can do a 5.5s 0-60
