Arrow 05' Accord Coupe

So the car is almost paid for ('02 CL-S) and I was considering my options. I really like the way the new Accord Coupes look, that and I can get one with EVERY option available for under 35,ooo. What do you guys think of it and are there any problems with it. Do you think it would be a good "next" car following the, IMO, awesome 3.2. Is it a smart choice? Thanx

Well if you really like the Accord coupe and want one then I guess you should. The CLS is a much better car IMO. $35k for an Accord is not my idea of a Honda. only advantage would be if you go for the 6 speed, otherwise, why bother replacing the CLS with an Accord? it's true there's no new Acura coupe to consider, but I'd wait for the new Acura coupe in 2 years, your CL is not very old. part of the reason I got my 03 CLS 6 speed is cause I testdrove the 6 speed Accord coupe and loved the shifter so I bought the CLS 6MT.

You can buy any Accord (sedan or coupe) at about $200 over invoice. (yes, even 6-speed coupes) You're looking at $25K and change plus T&L. I sell Honda's for a living.

It's an Accord. No matter how nice they make the Accord from the factory, you will always see 50 of them on the way to work in the morning. For me, if I'm going to spend upwards of $30-35,000 I need to be a little different than the rest of the crowd.

g35

If i were to buy a g35 with the same options it would be over 40,ooo. With the price come a more nimble, more rare, faster, more stylish car but I just dont wanna spend that kinda cash. I like all of your suggestions but when I think Accord, I think of my sisters '90 model that has never broken down. Yes, it would be downsizing from the 3.2, but if I could get one with everything on it for under 30 that would be great. Ill let you, Mr.Steve, be different, but as for me I just want something stylish, reliable, and for the buck, a good value. I like the interior better than the g35 actually. Having test driven both I think the Accord is more user friendly plus I like how you sit, what seems like lower in the car(due to the high window line). (Around 30,ooo as well) I agree my car isnt that old but im nearing the 90,ooo mile mark, that means I have 10,ooo miles for my tranny to go out, after that im screwed.

The new Accord is definitely a nice car, no doubt about it. They did a great job.

But for $35,000 I could think of tons of cars that are a year old I would jump into before an Accord.

I wish Acura would make minor changes to the body, throw Acura logos on it, beef up the engine and have it be the new CL coupe. I think it would be a great seller. I would just like to have a BRAND new car. I just priced one out on the website with the options I want and it came to 31,000, which isnt bad.

sixgearcl- I guess Tucson is a strange market for Honda. We have hanging sale tags in all of our Accords, 6M cars included, all $200 over. I'll check when I get to work, but I know for sure an EX V6 sedan sells for $25,299 plus T&L.

You don't have to know anyone to get a good deal. Do the following; Go to your local Honda store. Ask for the Fleet Manager, and tell them you would like Fleet Pricing. Anyone can do this.
Edit- Better yet, email our Internet Manager (3 w's, DobbsHonda dot com) and ask for a price quote on a 6-speed coupe. Post your response on this thread.

02cls- If you are seriously considering a new Accord, drop me a PM. I'll steer you in the right direction.

If you're a AAA member, you can get a decent price with out even haggling. Usually it's $500 or so over invoice for most cars (not on all cars, just most - I'm sure the C6 is excluded ). I got my CLS for a little under the AAA price. It was less then $500 over invoice. I also negotiated on a leftover 02 Accord EX V6 that was still on the lots when the 03 sedans came in for about 1700 under invoice (without even trying).

Dealers these days won't make much on the car (if you know what you're doing), but will make money off your trade and on service.

What kinds of car are you into. You look more for luxury or sport. I would look at the 350z, Sti(ugly, but you can make it look really good) or G35. My friend was even telling me that nissan was bringing the silvia to the states and it cost around 35,000. That car is legendary over here, I would take that over anything else if I had the option.

1) I live in mansfield, thats 2 mins. away from Ft.Worth/Dallas/Arlington. 2) I still live with my parents. 3) My dad owns a graphic design place, he got me the hook up at a different place. So really the only thing i have to pay for is food, car, insurance.

That's the best one yet, I think I might do that, it doesnt help my case that I went the the dealer to go "look" at them and I was bombarded by pushy, geeky, acne ridden salesmen who when I started to ask questions about the car he was very persistant in telling me that "the oil for these cars is very hard to find". How does that particular dealership )**cough, cough Vandergriff Honda**) get away with service like that. I think its funny, the nicer the car the better the service.

keep the CL. you get alot more respect having an acura rather than a honda (personal experience) plus my step brother has an 05 accord coupe and i think its a little smaller, seats arent as nice, and the exterior is alot more bulbus than the CL. not too mention the CL-s is already much quicker.

hahah thats funny ^

must of been trying to take advantage of you or something. i think any idiot knows oil is interchangable among almost every car.

I'm actually wondering the same thing, about the Honda '05 Coupe... I was shopping for a TL, but then realized it's slightly out of my price range... so now I'm trying to figure out what to "settle" for.

The price for the TSX and the Accord Coupe are VERY close when you load the Accord the way I'd want it... (sorry, don't have the specific numbers nearby).

Here in Denver, every other car is an Accord SEDAN (makes me nauseous) but there aren't that many Accord Coupes on the road, so at least I'd feel somewhat like I wasn't just one of the crowd.

It's a well made vehicle, and I am only looking for something for 3-4 years until the new TL's come out (and my income/budget increases enough to justify the price point), so I'm seriously considering the Coupe for the meanwhile as a "smart" interim choice.

I have to go and test drive them again (it's been a couple of months) but from what I remember I liked the styling and interior of the TSX better than the Accord... but the ride on the Accord was a lot smoother (TSX was pretty stiff) and that factor means a lot to me. I'm actually going to hop over to the TSX board and see if there are any options to make the ride a bit smoother (I'm open to suggestions here if anyone's got one).

The pickup of the TSX leaves something to be desired as well, once it's moving it holds it's own just fine but the 0-60 numbers are pretty sad (but I can live with that... hell, it's probably safer for me, lol).

Anyway.... I just wish I could justify the TL and be done with this decision...

Good luck with your move.

I have to say that had this current Accord Coupe been available back in April of 2k when I bought my CL-S, I probably would have gotten the Accord given the price difference and styling. I like the front of the CL-s better, but the sides and rear of the Accord better. Interiors are a draw to me. I do like that the Accord has telescoping wheel, the seats are lower in the car, the steering wheel is nicer and they now have heated seats and almost as much power. They have the same trans (might not be so good) but are really only missing HID headlights. I think it is still a nice car for that price and am considering one to replace my CL-S when the time comes. I will be deciding between that and the TL (2 kids now means a 4 dr might be necessary). I just dont know if the TL is worth 5k more though I know it is a very nice car and I love the interior of the TL.

I agree with others though, at your age, drive what you have and save your money for a house or something. Cars are a poor way to spend most of your money. Most financial experts say not to spend more than 10% of your monthly take on a car payment, or the equivelent of 1/3 your annual income on the purchase price.

Yes, I am in EXACTLY the same place (except I've got a few years on you, lol). I have not yet made up my mind as to whether I can justify the extra money for the TL but it is a VERY sweet car.
