03 Type S for 14,990???

Ok I think I may finally have found one. I know one of the salespeople at my local Acura dealership and she got got me a price on a Type S. How does it look to everyone?

It's an 03 Type S in good condition with 76000 miles on it. Auto and no navi.

Good???

Too high. Sure, it's a Type S but auto and no Navi are drawbacks IMO. What color is it, in and out?

it is silver on black. i thought this was a pretty good price considering there are plenty of them with over 100 miles going for the same price.

Yeah, that's probably about right for a 03 from a dealer...

If it's an auto, make sure it's covered under the factory 109K mile waranty... Not all 03's are covered...

I wouldnt say thats a lot of coin for an auto, but i wouldnt consider a "deal" especially for knowing them... they can be had for less. Im in CT also, what dealership did you visit?

Cool

Auto, black/black, with navi appears to be very rare. I've been searching for about seven months. Recently missed on, by one week, that had 55,600($16,000). I did come across a 2003 CLS (auto, black/tan, navi, $20,000), with only 31,000 miles on it. Smail Acura in Pennsylvania. Check it out!

that is alot, but not awhole lot. its just alittle over the average. but yes, the cl will take alot of miles to wear down if treated right. i say go with a 6speed.

Do you guys feel that the prices may have gone up a little? due to the longer time that Acura has offered no other coupe choices??

My 03 anthracite 6 speed/Navi has 48k miles. I live pretty close to work so I guess I don't drive it as much as others.

I've got 68K on mine, and drive about the "national average" of 12.5K miles per year... This one could be an early 03 (March 02, mine was made in Aug 02), so the mileage would be average...

They car is strong till 200K plus... but the auto's have a glass tranny. The transmission *might* be covered till 109k (or seven years), but then you're on your own... We've had multiple members have transmissions replaced multiple times, so even if you do replace a transimission once, it doesn't guarantee you won't have to replace it again.

There's a reason why people are saying it's too expensive... it's because it's an auto (the tranny issues decreases it's value)...

Most people would just suggest you avoid the issue and try to buy a 6spd instead (that's what I did).

No, not really... KBB trade in/private party prices have been falling steadily... It's just that the depreciatiion curve has flattened out so that we're only losing 1K in value a year now...

Since you have (relatively) low milege, you're going to see a higher value on your car...

My 6spd is worth about 13K in trade in w/ 68K miles... (according to kbb - good condition).

Agree. That's a normal dealer price & is fair.

I paid $14,600 for my 03 Silver on Black auto non-navi CL-S w/ 68k miles, so it's about right. Take everyone's advice though and either use the automatic tranny issues as a way to bring the price down or just keep looking for a 6 speed for around that price. I had my tranny replaced once and decided to trade it in about 10k miles later because I was too scared the tranny was going to die again. I ended up almost being upside down on my loan because the car depreciated so much, but thankfully the numbers worked out so I wasn't too deep in the hole on it. So just be sure that you're ready to deal with the automatic tranny issues even if they do lower the price. Oh, and the previous price of $17k on the lot is a complete bs way of making you think you're getting a deal. Oldest trick in the book.

I paid $13,500 for my 03 CL-S 6-speed w/87K about 5 months ago (Black leather, NBP, no nav). You can definitely do better. Its a tough swing with the 6-speeds since they are so rare, but with an auto thats definitely way too much.

Im still wondering why this 03 6spd 29k miles hasnt been sold yet... The price seems better than good, and if it was any other color but red (even though the red on black looks nice, ive had too many red cars) id probably fly out and buy it if i didnt have a car already... Unless of course there are underlying issues that arent disclosed, i.e.. too many owners, accidents etc...

There was a nice auto on ebay a while back too that never sold... HERE

OK, thanks everyone. I am going back to the dealership tonight to talk some numbers. I will let you know what happens. By tonight I will know what the verdict between the CL and the Jeep I am looking at will be. Out of curiosity, how does $13,500 for an '04 Grand Cherokee Special Edition with 54K look? I need to make a decision between the two by tonight. If I can get the price of the CL down I will def go with it, otherwise, I gotta get the Jeep. As a former '05 TL driver, I want the CL VERRRYYY badly but we'll see what happens I guess.

I might be driving to Watertown, CT this weekend if you're still considering a CL.

OK, called back last night and got the price down a bit. After taxes and fees, the price will still be around $14. That a litle better for a certified S from a dealer???

I think you're correct Green. Maybe it's a dealership warranty or something?

man seriously don't buy that car. IMO it's about 1K too expensive for those miles. personally I think if you are going to own the car for more than a year or two you should buy something that will be won't break. just hold out for a 6MT (I got mine with 67K for $15K at the end of summer)

I came across a 2003 CLS with the folllwing specs:

Make: Acura
Model: 3.2CL
Year: 2003
Price: 13990
Mileage: 89995
Body Style: Coupe
Color: Black/black
Cylinders: 6 Cylinder Gasoline
Transmission: Automatic
Doors: Two Door
Stereo: Compact Disc Changer
X-CLEAN,2003 ACURA 3.2CL TYPE-S,NAVIGATION SYSTEM,BLK/BLK,ONE OWNER.
This is a Fully Loaded Gorgeous Eye-Catcher BLACK 2003 ACURA 3.2CL S-TYPE. This vehicle has every possible options and features you would think of which will make your ride Extra Comfortable and Enjoyable.

The dealership (non Acura/Honda) had no clue about any transmission issue with the CLS (2001-2003). It looks like only Acura/Honda dealerships are aware of the 7yr/109,000mi warranty. This vehicle appears to be in tiptop condition inside/outside. I'm going to run a CARFAX report, hoping to get a lot more insight on the vehicle. Will it clue me in on the availability of the extended warranty? Would Acura give me the information if I called with the VIN number. I was trying to find this setup with less than 60,000 miles, but that might be wishful thinking at this point. The price is definitely a bit much for 90,000 miles!

it's looking a lot more like $14,000 right now. i feel like i have to take it. there is NOTHING else in the area. I have been lookig for almost a year and this is the best i have found. in this area to find one for $12-$13 its going to have well over 100K on it and almost never be an 03.

Dont be afraid to drive a little - I drove aproximately 130 miles (260 round trip) twice to buy and pick up my CL...

Add to that the half dozen or so times i drove into NY to look at so called "mint" cars....

The right car is worth the wait and the drive to get it...

i would absolutely love to wait for the right one. but i have been looking for a year already, the car i was driving just bit the dust and i work and go to school 60+ hours per week. I just dont have the time to to wait and/or drive to go see other options. time has run out for me. this is the closest thing to the "right car" i have seen yet anyway

So get it. The car has to meet YOUR needs not anyone here. It's nice for us to say to wait, but we are not in your situation.
