'03 SVT Cobra
Heehehe, squared off against an older gentleman in a new SVT Cobra this morning on the way to work. Much to my suprise, I got the jump on him and was 1/2 car up by 60. I was saying to myself that I thought these cars were supposed to be fast??!!?? Then he decided that he had enough jacking around and apparently really got on it for the first time in our little grand prix....bye-bye Stang. He jumped ahead by car length super quick and shut it down. He gave me a thumbs up and we went on our way.....guess those SVT's are fast after all
Not sure what the numbers are, but had he been trying the whole time, I would imagine that he would have had me for lunch.
Oh well....it's still just a Ford :P ....calm down, just messing

Did you guys see that video of the guy with an older Daytona Z Turbo (worked, supposed to run very low 13's) that came across an unsuspecting '03 Cobra owner on the highway?
Pretty funny video.... the Cobra pulls away from him all 3 times, yet he keeps insisting that it was because the guy in the Cobra had the jump.
I'll see if I can find the vid.

Here's the video.... Actually, it wasn't a Daytona Z, it was a Shelby CSX Turbo.
Still funny to listen to the hicks in the Shelby cry...

A Cobra runs high 12's STOCK. The only CL that could possibly compete is the Turbo CL

Nice death. ![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Funny a yellow one pulled up to me on the way to the gym today. Even stock they sound sweet. I forgot to ask the guy however how the coverage on his Nav was.

They are quick, that's for sure. I raced one on in my Mustang and had him by a car length in 1st gear. However, he spun like crazy, and I have drag radials. After he got traction though he flew by like I was standing still.
The guy ended up having exhaust/pulley/cai, which puts then at about low 12's and almost 500hp. :o

The fastest I've personally seen for a stock 03 Cobra is 12.8 @ 110mph. However, it took the guy about 10 passes and many mid 13 runs to get a feel for the car.

Corvettes don't suffer as much in convertible form, since they were designed with open-top motoring in mind.

I don't doubt for a second that he pulled mid12's, but I'll bet he would do the same numbers with a 6 speed C% coupe, and low 12's with a Z06

Actually, if you read that article, the Cobra was a convertible as well. And it's pretty well known that the covertible Mustangs are slower than the hardtops, due to the weight difference.

I LOOOOVE the way that Cobra sounds at idle, that low burble, then the ROAR as they storm their way up the tach...same with any C5 Vette, esp the Z06, but I would love to hear any one of those with an opened up exhaust, and screaming at about 5-6k. It would wake the damn neighbors up that's for sure. I dunno how people can hear one of those or the Viper motor and still like a little fart can on their 4 bangers.

All I have to say is the 03 Cobra is the best bang for the buck car on the market today. cheap mods = Huge HP & low ETs
They sound weak stock. Except for the blower whine. Exhaust is waaay too quiet. Same w/ the C5s. Silent. Put some LTs, O/R X-pipe and Magnaflow/Borla/JDM/QMP exhaust and they sound fuckin insane. Not to mention you gain like 80rwhp from a full exhaust!!!

In other words, if you added the blower whine and the exhaust noise together, it would be over the limit.
That helps explain why an free-flowing aftermarket exhaust gives such big gains on an otherwise stock supercharged Cobra.

Plus, I don't know if motorcycles even have to meet the same noise standards as passenger cars.....
