The CL-S is quicker through the 1/4 mile so I'd go for it. If you have a 6spd he might jump you off the line but you'll get him pretty quick afterwards. I've seen numbers of about 6.7 and 15.1@89 for them.

Forced induction (sc / turbo) cars are the most sensitive to variations in heat and humidity, not N/A cars such as ours.

Its funny I found this thread, because I raced my buddys 03 SS Silverado. He has exhaust, a chip programmer, and maybe a few other things he hasn't told me about. I have an 01 automatic CLs and yes its stock. From a dead stop he killed me, he hooked up and left me by about two to three car lengths. By about 50-60 I started pulling back on him pretty hard, passed him about 80 and kept pulling fairly hard on him. It surprised the crap out of him. I was just spinning from a dead stop, while he just hooked and left.

Those trucks are stout, I keep telling him to at least supercharge it. He wants to sell it because its horrible on gas, especially with gas prices right now. Its pretty stong running truck knowing how much it weighs.

Off-topic, but why would someone buy one of those instead of a RAM SRT-10 or a Lightening? Price difference I guess?

i want to know the outcome of this run. i have a friend that has a stock silverado SS and wants a little race. i'll try to get him to have a go by this weekend. i'll try the typical 2nd gear roll then off of the line. the posts in this thread being true will give me a fun run since i have just the sport shift but with headers.
... to be continued

It's called brand loyalty.

Trucks are built for low end grunt not for top end power, that would explain you pull up to him around 60.

How does 0-60: 6.3 and 14.8 at 90 mph in the quarter sound. That's what car and driver reported on an 03 SS. My suggestion, don't mess up the launch and you got him.

But as always the only way to find out is to race so do it and let us know!

Car and Driver figures can never be replicated for some reason. They got 7.2 seconds to 60 for a TSX.
