'03 maxima MT vs mazda 6 MT vs '01 CL-S
hey guys... another street racing story for you all
went and met up with some old friends before at a small get-together, and one of them has a new mazda 6 MT, stock and another guy had a '03 maxima MT with exhaust and intake. He was telling me how nissan was > to honda cars and he challenged me to a race... the guy in the mazda 6 also wanted in so we went to this secluded straightaway road that we usually drag at. a bunch of people showed up to see the results because there was some betting going on. plus there was a pool of $60 bucks for the winner to take
so we line up and someone counts down 3-2-1. i go into gate shift and go WOT. off the line the maxi was ahead by maybe a foot, the mazda 6 was behind by maybe 5 feet. second to third gear i was ahead of the maxi by like 4 feet and third to fourth i was 1.5 car lengths ahead i was suprised, expected the maxi to hold up better than that but whatever, a win is a win $60 bucks in my pocket

I'll be the 1st to say it......the Maxima dude is a horrible driver if he's losing to a stock CLS automatic. AND A MODDED MAXIMA??? Plain & simple.....he sucks. I haven't run a CLS yet but based on what I've done to the TLS's and the new TL, a CLS (auto) doesn't have a prayer. Give me an intake an exhaust and I'll make you look silly. Unless you have some sort of freak stocker that is running in the 13's, which I doubt.

im stock, had my stock rims on. i took off my rims a couple of days ago because i went to get the car appraised when i was considering trading in the car. they weight 20lbs each, not insanely heavy but heavier than stocks nontheless.
i was going to get rid of CL... but the huge depreciation made it really not worth it. i traded in my '01 330xi (80k miles) for a new TSX 6 speed.
GTPguy - true he may not be a great driver. but IMO a modded CL-S will take a modded maxima. but as we pointed out it does come down to the driver.
i ran 14.6 quarter mile stock, ET 93 with good tires on 93 octane gas in 85 deg weather 45% humidity.

dood bug the fuck off man...my god...give the man his glory...
second off, who the fuck said an '02 Max MT would be an '01 CL-S Auto stock for stock? That is purely a drivers race. The CL-S should have the edge, but if the Max driver is REALLY good, he could take the win, but not by much I'll tell you that.
Good job beatin those two buddy The 6 shouldn't have been a problem.

The 2 are nearly identical in weight, the CL has a 5 hp advantage. Now being conservative give the Maxima 20 hp for his intake & exhaust.....you're talking 275hp with a 6-speed vs. 260hp and an automatic. Sorry, that can only add up to shitty driver.
And while 14.6 is an awesome time for a stock automatic CLS it's something that any 6-speed 02/03 Maxima should be able to achieve without problem. This is like me saying an automatic Maxima beat out a 6MT CLS........boy what do you think would happen if that claim were made? I give you props on a nice street kill but do realize the 6-speed Maxima is more than a match for a CLS if driven right.
Flame away.......

funny how we got some maxima people in the forum... not hating on the maxi's, i used to own one, till i upgraded to the CL-S i dont think i'll be going back to the nissan line-up for awhile... while i do hve tranny issues with acura, for similar prices between nissan/acura, acura gives you so much more
plus nissan does not have VTEC J32A2 and the VQ engine... not too much different performance wise as well

True. Besides, only a Honda can gain HP/TQ from 'Type R' or 'Type S' badges.

BTW----how do those TSX's run? I've been seeing quite a few of them on the street lately and I know it's only a matter of time before I catch a light iwth one. They're what, 220hp? I'd imagine they're pretty light.

Happy CL-S Pilot
VQ engine has tons of torque everywhere... J32 has to top end torque and HP!...You need to be in VTEC range to compete!.
Also the new limited edition (20k units) 2005 Altima SE-R with a new short throw 6-speed stick shift and 18: summer tires and engine with close to 265 HP would kick some major ass!. Thiis car would most like be a sticker only and order only car.
Nissan is being agressive as it is making tons of money.

the TSX is not much of a sprinter... i got it because i liked the interior, the aesthetics, etc and because it cornered extremely well for a FWD car. its a i-vtec inline 4, 2.4 liters. 200hp and 144 ft/lb torque. not close to the 3.5L VQ engine or even our 3.2L J32A2

no? it's a drivers run...and if he wins by 1 car length that's not like "whoa"...
a cl-s auto should be able to pull some on an auto maxi...but not by much; as mentioned, it is a driver's race. So if he beats the same guy everytime by roughly 1 car length, that sounds quite legit.
