03 CLS 6 Speed - Saw The Track Today - First of Year
Opening day at my local track was today. Decided to head out to get a bunch of runs in, as the attendance isn't great, and it's only $7 to run all you want. Running my 03 Type S, stock besides drilled rotors and a k&n drop in filter. Yokohama Avid 4s tires all around, front tires are slicks but didn't come that way. Unfortunately realized I had to shift to 4th gear about 150ft before the line.
Went to the track with my buddy with a 08 GTI Stage 1 APR chipped, puts him around 250horse 300 ft/tq. We are a dead even heat for the most part, his best run of the day was a 14.3, with me behind the wheel. He could only muster a 14.4. He's also a fan of what I like to call a "coma at the tree" busting out rt's of anywhere from .8 to 1.4 LOL. Very inconsistent, tried to give him a basic lesson, but he struggled. Part of the problem is undoubtedly the DSG gearbox and launch control, there's a variable delay until the car moves enough to trip the time box.
Ran about 15 runs, temperature was right around 65 degrees, mostly overcast.
Initial tire pressure was 32psi, had about an 8th tank of gas. First few runs netted around a 14.8, eventually down to a 14.6 after I got the feel for the track, where to drop of the clutch, and how to minimize tires spin and wheel hop off the line. 60ft times were a consistent 2.3-2.4 with this pressure. Trap speed around 94mph.
Then brought my tires down to about 20 psi. Instantly my times dropped to a consistent 14.5, with a better 60ft of mid 2.2s. Found that about 2200 rpms provided the best launch. Eventually, I was able to get my time down to 14.42 as my best run of the day, 2.2 60ft, and 96mph trap speed. Here's a link to my time slip, let me know what you think!

Is this on-par with other factory stock 6 speed CLs? I've heard of people getting into the very low 14s stock, I presume with better 60ft times?
