This is getting ridiculous. If I had known that Honda was going to build Accords that match or out-class my CL-S is such a short period of time, I wouldnt have bought one.......

F---k this...... Maybe I'll trade-in for a used NSX.

Unless Honda upgrades the Accord to that too

I dont understand this; at the same time, Honda is also undercutting the sales of the RSX-S as well, wtf?
Who would want an Acura that would be stomped on by an Accord?

And what purpose would this serve for such a mainstream segment of their sedan/coupe lineup--where the drivers tend to be normal, everyday commuters, not performance oriented racers.
Makes no sense.

Much of the Civic and Accord crowd is young and want performance for a decent price. They don't care about the added luxury of an Acura. I know, I was there for many years.

Besides, Honda did not do this to piss off Acura owners. They did it to protect their LARGEST market share which is being "attacked" by other manufacturers like Nissan (with the 3.5L Altima). I am sure the next generation TL/CL will match the G35/330i performance. Meanwhile, the CLS 6spd is the only way to reach that magic 6 sec 0-60.

If you look at the Altima and the G35 sedan, there are plenty of resemblances - especially the 3.5L engine which is as close in performance as the the new Accord and CLS engines (only 20hp difference). Even on the track we are talking about .5sec diff in 0-60 acceleration for both manufacturers.

But you are right about the G35 coupe - it is beautiful and as far as style is concerned, it is in a class of its own - for now.
Its not surprising that the G35 shares some styling cues from the Altima. They are the same manufacturer after all but you have to remember, besides the engine, they have COMPLETELY DIFFERENT chassis. The G35 is a true sports sedan with an almost perfectly balanced weight ratio and RWD (also sharing the chassis with the 350Z and G35 coupe). The Altima is a FWD, forward biased sporty sedan with a big fat engine.

The Accord and Acura tl/cl have the same chassis and share a huge number of components. They are much closer in relationship than the G35 and Altima.

And I wouldn't sweat it guys. I'm pretty sure the Accord is not as fast as the CLS. Plus i bet the new accord engine is so heavily tweaked that mods won't put out nearly the same gains as the 3.2L

the new coupe looks too good.............I think the Voice Activated GPS system is awesome.

i think the 3rd stage VTEC system really help the timing on 1/4 miles.

just hoping the chasis and suspension system are similar then we can transfer the mods........hehe

hmmmmm, I seem to remember posting quite a few months ago that a friend at the local stealership said "240 bhp and a 6 speed" - then everyone here quickly called BS on it. Heheh :P The sedan is butt ugly IMHO, the coupe looks a little better - especially in whatever Honda is calling the blue - "Eterna"???

Where is the link (evidence) of these low 14's for the RSX from Motor Trend? My search of autosite revealed this:

http://www.autosite.com/new/grabbag/perform/2629.asp

15.32 and 15.11 times for the 1/4 mile for the RSX-S from MT.

hmmmmmmm
