01 WRX vs CTS-V
wrx's have no topend
...my brother finally decided to call his friend to meet up and let me see his 01 wrx, sti block/built jun head/20g/utec untuned 18psi on pump gas. so i get in and he takes it on rt28, we pull up next to a cts-v. were with a bunch of other cars (slowest one runs mid13's) so he tells us to pull over and see what the we had. hes a cool ass guy, in his mid 20s looks like a doctor or something. he tells us he hasnt gotten any runs tonight and he wanted to see if the wrx could hang with him. so they decide to meet up some where and go 3 times from a 20, 30, 40 roll.
GODDAMN THEY ARE SOME FAST CARS. im in the wrx (i weigh 235 driver ~160) the cts-v is alone, roll up to 20mph, 3 honks and were off. the race was over before it started. the cts got the jump, but that didnt help. by 80 we were up ~1.5 cars. then the 20g hit the sweet spot, anything 100+, at 130 we were up 2-3 cars and pulling hard in 5th. that was with the wrx shifting slowly/carefuly . from 30 and 40, the wrx murdered it again, he shifted harder instead of "granny shifting it" this time and by 130 we were up 3-4 car lengths both times. this was on low boost setting18psi untuned. high is going to be 24psi on c16 when it gets tuned. from a dig id imagine the wrx adding another 4-5 car lenghts on top of what he had from a roll. BUT the cts-v is not a slow car at all and it sounded sick when he got on it, real real nice. im in love with that thing. oh yea these were on some high traffic, dangerous, dark back roads, pothole infested with children skipping jump-ropes down the shoulder type roads.
our digi is broke with a tape stuck in it, but tomorrow or today whatever were going to get some vids.
also ive got to add, these cars get up to that speed so fast and can deccelerate so fast, its like your in a time warp or something, only took 15 seconds or so each race. when we made a uturn the cars we were with were like a 1/2 mile behind us. CRAZY.

oh yea, both cars chirped going in to every gear, more like lost traction into every gear. the 4-5 shift in the wrx got us almost sideways i swear to god. that is by far the fastest car ive ever been in. if any of you have a subscrip to scc (dec '03), the guy who semi-tuned it is phil grabow from turboxs, his car runs high 11's and says this wrx is faster than his car, but with high boost and c16 it should be much much faster, as in getting pretty close to 10's.

I guess I don't get this comparison. You could take that CTS-V and add $5k and pull significantly on the WRX. A Mitsubishi 20G turbo is enough to flow 600 CFM and make nearly 500 HP. That should be enough to run a stock CTS-V.
You originally stated and made a roll eyes image about the WRX not having top end. They don't in stock form. They trap much lower in comparison to other vehicles in the same ET range. Have some $$ and that can be fixed.
The CTS-V would, with some mild work, run even. Add forced induction and it is no longer a competition.
Heck, my CL-S6SC would most likely pull as well, if not better, on a stock CTS-V. But the CTS-V still has quite a bit more potential.
