01 CLS Long distance MPG/fuel review.

I've talked about it before, and for whatever reason my 01 CLS with 51000 miles now, get excellent MPG on long drives.

Well this morining i set of from Ft.lauderdale to Lakeland Airport, Yahoo Directions say it 219miles if you go there excact route. The actual miles i drove this morining was 258 up, and something similar on the way back.

I set of this morining at about 5am, temp was about 58c, filled the car with gas and off i went. On the way up i drove on I-95 from FLL to PBI there where plenty of slopes on the highway so i knew this was not good, continued past PBI to ft myers and got on the turnpike there for about 10miles and then on to Route 60 west.

Route 60 west to Lakeland is about 110miles, Route 60 also goes through 3 large towns , Lakewales, Bartow, and Lakeland before you reach the airport of I-4 which goes to Tampa.

The bad thing about this, is that there a plenty of traffic lights, large trucks and its usualy busy on saturday morining.

To cut a long story short, i got to lakeland airport after driving 258miles, my tank is just alittle bit under the 1/2 mark, considering the traffic lights, tolls, slight up slopes on i95, and to top if top i WOT 3 times and part of R60 is a single lane for miles, you have to get over into the incoming traffc lane when there are no cars to get my. its like playing chicken lol.... anyways so all this did not help.

on my way back i found other route and less traffic lights so drove that on the way back.

I've often said my car could easily do 500miles. some wondered it was not possible

Btw the time i got back to Ft.lauderdale, i ended up making it to Commerical blvd, with 482miles on the clock since this morining, on the same tank of gas i left this morining. The drove back to weston where i live

Which makes me believe if i was to take the Turnpike and drive 500miles straight, i'd probably have atleast 15% gas left, including reserves ( good for 30-40miles) based on highway driving.....

I'm very pleased with the performance/mpg, i mostly sayed between 70-75 on the way up, 80miles/hr on the way back

I aleast Acura got something right... i'll write more later of people are interested on my findings........
