01 CL-S vs. CLK 320

Christ. I was in somewhat of a hurry and feelin' a bit aggressive so I was drivin somewhat mad but slick around these streets and I realized I was doing 60 in a 35 so I just popped it in neutral and coasted. I see something approaching in my rearview mirror and it's a silver CLK coupe (previous gen) with the AMG kit. And I go "good God let it be a CLK55, I'd love to see that thing bone out" and the bitch passes me... it's a 320.

So next red light, I pull up one lane over and the car's lookin pretty nice. Had the 18 or 19" LDRs and I love the AMG bumpers. I look in the driver's side window and it's some middle aged (35+ but under 40) lady who's trying to look way too high class to acknowledge the fact that she just raced past me in an air of superiority. Of course, I don't give much of a shit yet but as the light turns green, her tires chirp a bit and she takes off with her engine screaming. I drive a PDG CL-S so I guess her message was: the color of your car is loud (possibly ricey) but I bet it can't keep up with this German machine I paid an extra 15 grand for.

At this point, I'm just going:

So like a cool cat I pull up next to her again, at the next red light and rev my engine slightly. This bitch still will not look over even though I know she heard it. Whatever, VSA off and light turns green. I was surprised that even under her full throttle, I kept up with her ass neck-and-neck. Keep in mind: that gen CLK 320 creates almost the same amount of torque as the CL-S (229 vs. 232) except 500 rpm earlier, and it's RWD, and it's ~300 lbs lighter.

We kept neck and neck until about 35mph... from there on, very standard story. Her auto tranny shifts gears while I'm doing 6400 rpm in VTEC... so it was bye bye to her. I jumped on her a bit when my tranny shifted from 1-2 and that was a bit unexpected, but other than that, I gained slowly but surely. I was actually half impressed with how her 215 hp engine put down the power through those big ass wheels. And half going in my mind cause I drive such a kickface car.

(Wow that was long)

I once raced a CLK 430 from a highway entrance ramp to about 110mph and neither of us gained an inch. The 320's are not that fast, probably like mid/high 15's.

So you raced a middle aged woman? I'm sure she didn't know how to drive her car either. You killed a lady driver! Whatever man, good kill

Must've been the E320. I've driven my uncle's 02 E320 (older bodystyle) and although it delivers torque well enough for a 3.2 V6, I knew then that it wouldn't be able to hang with the CL-S after 1st gear.

She was askin' for it so I had to lay the on her and for the CLers out there. Also, with a 4 speed auto MB tranny, I don't think she could've been very creative with the driving other than stomping on the accelerator.

I had a tool in a CLK320 that tried to run me and I was in the wrong lane to get to the exit I wanted from the on-ramp...must have been auto vs. auto but I owned that car. I posted previously about it...I always assumed better of the Mercedes since I really like the style of the last gen CLK. The last gen looks worth the $, the new gen doesn't to me. I would love to have a CLK430. Even just the ground effects look sweet!!!!! I was happy enough (when I saw how upset the other driver was) that I had to post last time! Great kill no matter how old she was!

It's kinda fun beating Mercs and such in our "shitty little Honda." It's cool that some people don't like Japanese cars, but ... trying to show superiority cause you spent profusely on a vehicle =
