01 CL-S Trade In Value Example

So I'm washing the ride over the weekend, and a guy pulls into my driveway while I'm applying some wax. One of his friends told him about my car, so he stopped by. He used to own a CL but had to get rid of it a month ago because his job required a truck. (he was toting cans of paint and other hardware around in the CL)

anyway...

This guy was pretty cool. He had black on tan, 19" axis mod 7s, versus body kit, comptech headers, injen CAI, Straight Pipe, suspension mods, and greddy evo exhaust. At 48K miles, he ended up selling the car.. AS IS for 12,000! He had just put the 19s on so he asked how much could he get if he took everything off, and he was quoted 10K! Ouch, what a hit!

I know mods detract from resale value, but shouldn't we be able to get more than 10K for a bone stock CL-S with 50K miles?

What have people been quoted recently on trade in value?

Dealer offered $19k for my 03 6speed with 15k miles.
Luckily i sold it to an individual for a happier price!

CL-S resales continue to fall like a rock, ive seen 2 near me (both 2001 with 50-60k miles, non navi, in mint shape) for about 13-15k, thats dealer lot prices...its really sad what happend to the CL-S and its trade values.

i guess its just a matter of a simple equation

poor sales + publicized transmission problems + model cancellation + "too little too late" 6 speed = awful trade-in/resale values.

im glad i got out when i did. and i look forward to my Audi A6 holding its value quite nicely. original sticker price on my car was approaching 50,000 dollars and therefore most of the depreciation has taken place.

They gave me 18K for mine, had 30K on it, this was last July.

Let me elaborate, that was what my Infiniti dealer offered me...just to pay off what I owed. My CLS, as most of you know, was wrecked, so my body shop guy cut me a check for 6400 bucks on top of the 12K I got from insurance to fix it...the same that I would have gotten if I would have traded it in.

I bought a new 03 MDX last August for 41,500K. I checked a couple of weeks ago what the value was with 8,000 miles in mint condition:
$41,000.00

LMAO........

I still LOVE my CLS and plan on keeping it for a long time.......

he is supposedly a member here, and even said he posted pics, but I've never seen them. I think he said his online name was bryce or something like that, but I couldn't find his user name either. but he was real familiar with the site when we started talking about it, so I know hes been here.

value

I got 01 CLS Certified from a Acura Dealer, in excellent condition 10/10, 4 new rims and pilot tires, 26000 miles ( 30K service done) On a monday morining i was able to get them down to $17500, on the bases i made a down payment of $7000. The sticker price was $23,000.

so who ever traded in this CL that i own probably got no more then 14K

I hate to say it but in the next 2-4 this car will be worth nothing

what really hurts this car is the tranny issue, trading in a high mileage TL/CL dont expect to get alot.

So 10K sounds low, but remember a 01 CL-S with 50K retails for around 15K, so the dealership has to have some protection so he can make a profit( as i'm sure u know)

It sucks I know ............

The whole car market...including collectables is hurting because they just make too many of the cars now and like all of you say, they are fairly easy to find and affordable when you want one...I love mine but like all good things it too shall pass...

IMHO, my 2001 CL-S, which cost me $29,400 in Aug of 2000 was more car than anything else that cost $35,000 at the time. 260 hp loaded with every option included that was important. A BMW loaded with all the CL options and with a comparable hp engine was $38,000.
So I was $6-10,000 ahead starting off. It was the best deal at the time by far. Keep it for 7-10 years and it won't matter. Nothing is worse very much after 7 years anyway.

They're selling for about $15,000 at dealer auctions so dealers are offering much less as a trade-in!

My thoughts exactly, when i got mine in June of 2000 it was by far the best buy for the money and I planned on keeping it a good 7 years at least. The trade in values are unfortunate, but only if you get a new car every 3 years. At this point i think i may just give it to the girly and trade hers in when i do want a new ride. Aside from the possible tranny issue, it should last a long time. I hope.

holy cow. i'm either bummed or ecstatic. i just took a test drive in a "bone stock" certified black/tan '03 CLS 6-speed w/ 20K miles the dealer wants $28K for. i thought it was about $5K too high. based on what i'm seeing here it sounds like its closer to $8K too high.

glad i passed.

Any dealer that wants $28k for an 03 with 20k miles on it is smoking some major amount of shit.

Even a 03 w/ ZERO miles is probably only worth about $26K or so (at least 2K under invoice IMHO) since the CLS has been discontinued for 10 months now.

I am still debating wether to dump out of it now while I can get something for it, or hold onto it for another 3 years. I definitely won't keep it past the extended warranty.

How are sales on the 04 TL, I thought someone said they were soft and dealing on them?
