01 CL-S and S2k
S2k rolled up on me last week...he revved and wanted to race, and I was down.
We got some open road ahead of us and were doing 55-60mph...I dropped into 2nd with the Sport Shift and he dropped as well...
We went at the same time and as we shifted into 3rd gear he pulled about a half car length...we kept this up until maybe 110 or so and then shut down. He was about half a car ahead the whole time.
He had some mods, wheels, sway bars, etc....but I didn't stop to ask him what else. Younger guy with aftermarket stickers on the ride.
Oh well it was fun and made me realize how quick the CL is.

i beat an 03 s2k w/single exhaust and lowered a while back by 1-2 car lengths from a dead stop. the 03's are slower than the 00,01,05,06's though. beautiful cars though. i've always wanted one

There's so much misinformation about the S2000 in this thread it isn't even funny...
From a dig, in a 1/4 mile drag race stock for stock a properly driven S2000 (any year except maybe the CR because of the increased drag) would beat any CL-S, even a 6speed.
The S2000 runs about a 13.9s 1/4 mile @ 100mph, unless I'm mistaken a 6spd CL-S is about a low to mid 14 second car, I would guess off the top of my head 14.5s @ under 100mph (~98mph or so?). I know the 5AT CL-S / TL-S are roughly a 14.8s @ 96mph.
Now a modded CL-S 6speed with I/H/E against a stock S2000 is probably a much closer race with a nod to the CL-S because the S2000 is not easy to launch from a dig.
Also, in terms of years and which S2000 has more horsepower, the 00-01 S2000s generally have less horsepower at the wheels then the 02-03 AP1s because the ECU in the 00-01s run a little rich in VTEC. Generally the 2.2L AP2s dyno slightly higher (~10whp) more then the 2.0L AP1s (unless you believe TOV which claims the 2.2L makes 240whp). The 2.2L AP2 04-05s supposedly have less horsepower then their 06-08 counterparts which have a completely different ECU due to VSA and Drive by wire.
In general, through most years the S2000 is roughly equal in the 1/4 mile. But if you look at magazine times you'll be hard pressed to find consistent times for the car because its very driver dependent (and of course temperature, elevation, track conditions, etc all play a part). But the best drivers on s2ki have been able to pull times as low as 13.6s in the 1/4 mile -- stock.
I don't doubt that people have beat S2000s in CL-S's, even modded 5AT CL-S's. With a bad driver, the S2000 can be a very slow car. The lack of torque in the engine make it especially hard to drive fast from a dig (but of course the S2000 was never made to be a straight line car).
