01 Cl-s power seat problem

Today I got into the car & the top part of the seat wont go back & forth. Is there any known fix for this ? Any idea would be better than going to the dealer for a $600 replacement

i guess if you really want to DIY, you can take the seat apart and see if your getting power to that motor. if not, it could be wiring or check the fuse. if your getting power than i guess the motor is busted and you would need to replace it. i suppose you can go to a local junk yard and get that part there or order it from your local honda/acura dealer.

see if there are any sounds coming from the motor when you try to move the seat.

That happened to me before.....i took the side cover off, took a hammer and whack the motor a couple times and it started working again. Not really the best idea but it worked
GOOD LUCK!

I've had the same problem since July...took it to the Acura dealer. They said the motor was bad and they are going to charge me 900 dollars to fix the problem.

Had the same prob w/passenger seat..

I had the same problem with my passenger sead in my 2001 cl type-s. It would not recline and got stuck in a uncomfortable upright position but i didnt care cuz it gave me an excuse to drive my girls 04 tl. The dam thing just started working so now we take my car more often!!
I did not whack anything just worked by itself out of the blue!

This may sound silly, but how do you take the side cover off? I tried and it's like screwed on or something, and I don't wanna break anything. I'm having the same problem with my seat and I at least wanna check it out myself before taking it anywhere.
