Shop around!! You should be able to pick up a non-nav CLS for close to, if not below invoice now. Find a dealer that has 20 CLS' on his lot and he'll deal w/you.

If that includes tax it's a good buy. You should be able to locate a CL-S for close to invoice price now. Check the internet and get a deal there and present it to your local dealer to match.

Depends on where in California. In the Bay Area 29,500 is pretty good, imho, but that should include mud guards, wheel locks, and maybe a spoiler.

i'd be amazed if 29.5 out the door is possible in california. the tax and license is about $2900 so that would mean a car price of 26.6. i would find that hard to believe. that would be below dealer cost even considering the holdback.

now if we're talking car price alone, and not including tax/registration, then 29.5 is not that good a deal. you should be closer to 28.5 (or even 28) on the car alone (not including dealer installed accessories like spoiler).

I paid 29.5k back in June and I had to wait 3 weeks for the car.
If you're in So Cal try Cerritos Acura. They're the largest dealer Acura dealer in So Cal.

Better check your calcs again. In San Diego tax is .0775 so 29.5k x .0775 = 2286.25

i thought tax was only 7.5% in san diego.
you're right that the $2900 figure was a little high because that is the figure for a cl type s with navi (like the one i just bought in february) and obviously tax will be lower on a non-navi car. anyway, registration and miscellaneous fees adds close to $500 more than just tax. that's just a ball park so don't get too hung up on specifics.

thanks for the advice. i was planning on doing that or going to the same dealer my dad went to for HIS CL (tustin acura) thinking that might be a good bargaining tool. (you know 'hey! you are gonna give me this car and gain 2 customers for life or not and lose two for life! lol) also, whats wrong with my calcs? invoice (28,300) + tax (7.75%) is 30,500. unless my calculator is wrong.........thanks anyway

I just bought (3 weeks ago) CL-S Non-Nav here in NJ for $450 over invoice. I added the spoiler, winter mats and splash gaurds for 10% markup over invoice.

I'm lovin' it and I can't wait for the header upgrades this summer.

Your original post showed a price of 29.5k so that's what I based my calcs on.
Good luck and don't be afraid to walk out. It's a great bargaining tool!!

ps: I told my salesman that I was there to buy a car and he had 1 hour to sell me one. I was in and out in a little over an hour and it cuts out much of the bull.

haha cool........yeah i want to be like that too. my parents will be with me (obviously, im only 17 and they have to cosign) and ill just walk in there and start looking at the car. when they talk to me, ill tell them this is the one they want, (made up) acura dealer offered (a little above invoice) but i talked to them online (i really did but they didnt give me a price) and id rather buy it there. also, im bringing a kbb.com printout of my integras worth (so they dont lowball me) and ill tell them that same dealer promised to honor the report. so i think i should be able to get it. i want an 01 aegean blue type-s without navi, with spoiler.

Hey FutureCL....Look in the San Francisco Chronicle, I saw one in there for about $27,888. Usually they'll say that the only color available is the gold one, but if you take that ad to Marin Acura, they'll match it guaranteed...

Hey San Diego guys,
The best price I've squeezed out of the local dealers so far is $28.5K for a silver CL-S w/o navi (Hoehn Acura-Carlsbad). Also, I've noticed that all 3(or is it 4) SD dealers have a whole bunch of CL-S's on the lot. What's up with that?
Well, if any of you guys worked a better price, please share the wealth. I'm going to buy as soon as my truck is sold...

I bought my CL-S with Navi for 30,500 from Hoehn Acura, but It was six month ago though.
I think you can ask CUSH ACURA to beat the price easily, but I am quite happy with Hoehn's service,I paid only $75 for 15,000 miles serive.

I got a quote from Cerritos today (refered to them by asking for a quote on autovantage.com) and they called me, went over the details (2001 CL-S with navi, mud guards and wheel locks) and gave me a guaranteed "special price" of 30,510. Not bad, that's about $550 over invoice. They also claim to be willing to deal fairly on my trade (a 98 Mitsubishi SPyder GS-T), so we'll give it a shot.

So far, I struck out at Santa Monica Acura and Keyes. Neither was willing to do better then $3000 under wholesale on my trade, though Keyes offered to sell me the car for $500 over invoice after I talked to the sales manager. They said it's a car they just can't sell and don't want to risk taking a loss wholesaling out. Maybe I should just wait for the 2002s. ;-)
