Is $11K too much for a supercharger ??

The more I read about the Kleemann supercharger the more it seems like a bargain. I mean for $11K plus install another $1500 and the car is capable of 12.7 quarter mile and 0-60 4 secs.

the only thing that worries me is the warranty but there has never been any reported troubles with the tranny or engine

I mean when you look at exhaust costing $1300 and headers costing $2300.....the supercharger for $11K and direct bolt on it really seems like a bargain

or am I losing it ??

That's a lot of $$ for a SC.. If you really want a fast car, I'd save the $$, get a car like a SRT-4 and mod that while keeping your CLK pimp... But that's just me. If you have the $$ and really want to do it, do it!

for 11k i would trade the clk and get a used m5 and be damn close to that while driviong a car that most people dont have. Save your money and buy a sports car next time. The clk and a sports car a just as useless in the snow. Invest in a $3000 truck beater.

If you've got that much cash to burn, I'd just trade and get a M5 like others have said.

11K for a blower is just silly. I don't care if it's a Benz or not.

If you have the cash and can afford it, do it. It will make you feel good if the cash isnt an issue. however, an M5 is tempting.

you wouldn't have posted if you didn't have the money or didn't want it. so go for it! you obviously love your car would probably like it even more. especially if it can eat an m5. but being from this board i will tell you to buy 3 comptech S/Cs and donate them.

11k.......hmmmmmm

IF your looking for speed then drop 8-9k on a decent sportbike, then the rest is you insurance, helmet and leathers.

Then you STILL have a nice, nice Benz you can roll.

But hey thats just me, good luck with your choice.

and to think .. we complain about Comptechs prices?? Apparently we're getting a deal. However I can't see a 12.7 SPANKING an M5 like you say .. especially not that new V10 one.

However if you have the money and it makes you happy Lou, I say go for it. It'll be unique, and one hell of a sleeper. Just invest in a tire company .. you'll be going through rear sets every oil change

fuck that shit...trade in for a clk55 amg (new one). Keep warranty, pimp factor, etc

that expensive of a mod on that expensive of a car is stupid. My friend's husband had an sl500...modded the shit out of it. After a while they were burning $1000 a month on repairs and maintenance (warranty was voided), and were forced to sell it. Why fuck up a beautiful car like that?

11k for a supercharger is a shitpot of money, don't listen to anyone but yourself when it comes to the ultimate reasoning, because the people here can't give you that kind of advice

don't let anyone here talk you into it because even if it was 20k they would tell you to do it because they just want to see it lol

thanks guys

the more I think of the money it would cost and not have warranty really sucks balls. I think Ill wait till my car is a bit older and if I decide to keep her Ill do it.

but this means all other mods arent worth it either cause spending a shitload of money on mods that give you no HP is retarded.

the car is pretty much modded to the max without really any cheap mods like the Comptech headers you know 32HP from one single bolt-on mod.

damn

Lou

Seriously, if you have to ask if $11k is too much to spend on a SC....then for you that could very well be the case.

That type of mod is for people where $ really isn't a concern and they just go ahead and do it.

I suspect you would regret buying a SC for your current car. It will still be the same car, just faster.

Just think of what you could buy after selling your car and putting down $11k on a new car.

If you are bored, I would just trade it in for something else.

You'll never get your $ back on an $11k aftermarket mod.

I know it sounds like a lot but remember how much money you have invested in your car now...Im sure its close to $10K

sometimes I wished I didnt put money into the radio, suspension, wheels and just put all the money towards the S/C and thats it.

mods just add up start adding up how much you have spent and it up there and remember if you're at $7k for the Acura if you had the Benz it would be $10k with all the blown up prices and shit.

sounds like much but I sure people have invested much more

$11K for the S/C inlcudes all the bolt on that you'll need including changing the ECU

Lou,

Personally, I don't think its worth it. From a financial standpoint, I agree with Beltfed; if you have to ask, don't do it. How much of the $11k will you see when you trade it in or sell it? Personally, I'd use the money towards a more sound investment (real estate, business, stocks, funds, retirement, etc.) As for the power increase, it sounds great but $11k? I thought mods for my C32 were expensive/overpriced. For that kind of money, you can buy a project car or put a down payment for one. IMO, you can feel more comfortable driving the $11k car hard than the CLK. I'm actually looking into a project car as well. Drifting has kinda caught my interest.

Didn't you take the stereo from the Acura? If so, you haven't lost much, if anything. You got a great deal on the rims, so if you do trade in your car or sell it, I'm sure you'll get most of the money back (considering they will be in excellent condition at the time).
I was actually looking into purchasing some mods for my C32 in the spring, but I'm reconsidering because I may get bored with it also. To spend that kind of money, I'd rather invest it and put it towards an E55 in a a couple of years.

Yes, I have about 7,000 into MODS for my car, but I got a lot more then just a blower.
I got Wheels, Tires, Headers, Springs, Sways, Intake, Tinted windows, Subwoofers & and AMP.
And I plan to keep the car for 7-8 years so I will get to enjoy them every day I drive.
I don’t expect to recoup much when I sell, but it will make the car more “interesting” to potential buyers.
And if I look at it long term, it’s only costing an extra 2-3 dollars a day.
