"Not an ashtray" problem

Does anyone else use the "Not an ashtray" as a coin holder? If so, DON'T! For the second time in the 4 months I've owned my cls, I had a coin come out and somehow get lodged in the very back of the tray, preventing me from opening it. I had to force it to open and somehow go the coin out, but now the tray doesn't pull down as smoothly and creaks a little while you do it.

What is the production date on your CLS? I think the newer ones had a fix to this if I am not mistaken - mine, built in September does not have this problem....yet.

Your tray "creaks" because their is either a coin still stuck way down in the mechanics of the tray, or you broke something forcing the thing open.

I had this very same problem when I first got the car. I had to take half my console apart to get the stuck coin. IT WAS NOT AN EAST TASK, and I operate and fix Arcade games for a living, And that's Easy.

Ditto!!!! Mine squeaks a little now when I open it, but the actual pulling open is still relatively smooth...

I use that little cut-out spot under the "not a ashtray" for my change and my cell phone holder. I do have change in the "NAA", but it doesn't seem to be a problem....

That must be a fun job. I love video games.

What's the fix on the later models? Mine has a slight lip on top top help prevent it, but if you have any more than 15-20 coins in there, any sudden stops or turns or anything will likely cause this problem.

I definitely didn't want to get in to the dash to fix things. I'm pretty sure I bent something in there while trying to pry it open.

I think the reason mine "broke" was cuz I stuffed it too full with coins...mostly quarters mind you.

I keep my remote control for the front gates to my complex in the tray, perfect size. V1 remote in in the slot so my coins go in the cup holders area.
