Winter Tires in northeast tri-state area
After reading the forums about how crappy the oem tires were that came on the tsx I decided I was going to need to get a pair of snow tires for winter.
We had our first storm in the NJ area the first week of December (before I had gotten them - just bought the car the week before) and personally realized how crappy the oems were and immediately bought the blizzaks.
According to what I've seen, you generally leave your winter tires on until the temps start to go above 40 degrees.
Well my question is this, with the crazy warm weather we've been getting is there any damage being caused to the tires since a lot of driving is at around 40 degrees if not warmer? I can't really take them off yet since it's still January and up here in the northeast winter can still bite way into March. I just feel like I'm wasting them with all this warm weather we're getting.
Just concerned about what driving them in regularly warm weather is doing to the tires if anything other than just wasting the special tread.

Typical NJ weather is why I opted not to get the Blizzaks. There are other tires out there without that special compound on them that wears down when used regularly on dry pavement. After the compound wears down, you're left with a regular all-season tire. Hopefully the rest of the winter here will not be so bad, because I chose not to get winter tires this year! IMO, NJ weathers aren't bad enough to warrant Blizzaks, but I wouldn't mind having another type of winter tire to get me through. Good luck with yours, they're good tires nonetheless.

Blizzaks literally melt in warm weather. Toyo Observe G02 give out the same great performance but are way ahead for wear, and they will even withstand summer weather. Drove one set for 4 winters and 1 summer on my wife's old Tercel.
