215/50/17 is stock spec tires. 225/50/17 and 225/45/17 BOTH can use on the stock rims within 3% differences. Stick w/ 215/50/17 for stock spec, and 225/45/17 for less weight and popularity, no reason for 225/50/17.

$180 for all 4 tires? That's a steal~!! How did is the tread, have you measure them? Anything less than 4-5/32" is garbage for snow tires.

Guys, before buying any tires, please know that you must buy a set that is relatively close to your OEM size (215/50-17).

https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-tires-wheels-suspension-130/tire-selection-wheel-size-master-guide-656174/

Using this, you can see what sizes are OK -- anything +/- 3% difference is acceptable, anything outside of that can cause problems. IE: The 225/65-17 would be WAY too big and would likely rub the fender -- don't even bother looking at this size -- I believe that's the size for some minivans!

16 inch wheels just barely clear the caliper. 15 inch wheels will be way too small to fit.

Definitely. I've got 16" steelies and they clear nicely, 15" won't work at all.

My suggestions if 215/50/17 is stock size:

17" -- 205/50/17 or 215/50/17
16" -- 205/60/16

My (since my wife has a '07 TSX)

while we're on the topic of winter tires, does anybody else here have new Toyo Observe G02 Plus tires?? I got mine on 2 months ago and they are Horrible in rain and wet roads. If I turn off VSA I can easily redline it in 2nd gear (auto tranny) if I floor it. If I have VSA on like it usually is, its hard to get into traffic when its raining because the light keeps flashing (tires keep trying to spin). Its dangerous pretty much. I've put 8,000kms on my tires so far, and its been like this since day 1. Thought I should ask before going back to the tire shop for an exchange

Interesting. I had the Observe G01 tires on my Integra about 4-5 years ago and they were awesome tires. I've heard the G02's were great, too...

I dunno.. This is my first year of not driving a 4x4 in winter. But I mean in rain the Observes are just plain bad. The other thing I dont like about them is when you pass a car in 2nd gear, it pulls you all over the road. The tread is Very soft. I really cant wait until I can put my summer tires back on!

It was the first major snowfall today and there were 6 accidents along my trip home from work (20km) and the tires held up alright. They seem Way better with braking on ice/compact snow than accelerating.

Is this your first real experience with true winter tires? If so, there's your answer. Yes, real winter tires are very soft compounds. Yes, the tread is "squirmy/squishy". Both of these characteristics will likely save your bacon in the freezing temps and ice and snow covered roads, as the tire remains flexible and can bite into the snow, slush, and even ice.

I know from experience that going from dedicated summer 45-series tires on 17" rims, to true winter tires in a 55-series on 16" rims, that things feel night-and-day difference. The new feel to the tires will seem normal after a bit, just give it time. Then get prepared to feel like you are riding on rails when you put the summers back on.

The switch back to summer tires is a glorious experience. Although I get kind of used to the super plush ride through the winter.
