Winter tires
I'm looking for winter tires. Want the best snow/ice performance since live in cold snowy canada. I'm presently looking at the bridgestone blizzak WS-50 and the new michelin X-ice. Any thought or recomandations???

Do search this topic, but briefly; stay away from the Bridgestone- your only getting half a snow tire with the multi-cell compound. For that much money you can get a whole snow tire; that's not bashing on Bridgestone because I love bridgestone tires and the blizzak's are pretty good when new but half wore they are horrible.
I am doubtful the X-ice will be able to compete with its peers, much as the artic alpin concentrated on handling and ride and winter traction was secondary- the artic alpins were a VERY unsafe tire for winter conditions. I have little experience with them at this time, I am sure later in the season it will be a different story! That being said, Michelin's approach to building safe tires has yet to impress me.

Arctic Alpins are the most dangerous tires you'll get in wet snow/slushy conditions. It's really a questionnable tire in it's whole. You look at the tread and you just know it's crap.
As for the blizzaks, tru they are not as good on the second half.
Maybe you'd want to look into Toyo Observe G02's.
Still the best all-around winter tire IMO, and for the exact same price as Blizzaks.
