Will AT ASPEC Suspension fit MT TSX?

Hi,

I currently have the MT ASPEC suspension in my car and love it. However, I can possibly pick up a new AT ASPEC suspension for about $150. My thought was that I can install the AT suspenion in a few years when the MT ASPEC wears out.

My problem is that I can't find any information about the spring rates etc. I assume the AT is sprung heavier in the front for the extra weight. However, the mounting should be the same if you were to put the AT suspension in a MT car.

Do you guys think this would work or should I forget about it?

try searching for the Aspec suspension group buy thread (created by jwood_06TSX) from about 2 years ago. Your questions will be answered in that thread. The AT should work on your MT.

I'm not totally sure, but I believe you're correct about the AT vs MT spring rates.

I havent checked the other thread but this may help.

lbs per inch
Stock - 280F/175R
A-SPEC - 308F/193R

I believe the aspec numbers listed there are for the AT.

They're interchangeable. Diff kits for AT and MT. The AT won't sit as low since it's designed for the heavier weight due to the tranny and what not. If you go the route of the AT on the MT prepare for it to sit higher. For those wondering the opposite does happen, if you put a MT on the AT then it will sit a bit lower.

The AT suspension will work fine on your MT. I have an '05 MT and I bought an '06-'08 AT Aspec suspension and everything runs fine. On top of that I heard the '06-'08's had a slightly milder drop than the '04-'05's. The back has a 1 finger gap and the front has about a 3 finger-4 finger gap. I do wish the front was dropped about half an inch more though.

Your car would be lower if you had purchased the correct A-Spec suspension for your vehicle's transmission.

Yeah I know that. I did research on it first before I bought the AT, either way the difference was minor and I needed some suspensions since mine were shot. $1500 CDN was out of my budget for Tein SS.

how does that, if at all, affect handling?

What about if you use the original M/T springs on the "new" shocks? Wouldn't the A/T suspension essentially perform as a M/T one? Assuming spring rates are the only difference.

Does anyone have a definitive answer for which A-spec suspension drop is higher and which is lower? I've seen people say that 04-05 is less of a drop, and that 06-08 is less of a drop, so I'm a bit confused.

It doesn't really affect handling between the two imo. The lower you sit the lower the center of gravity in general but the difference between the two I think is so minimal it wouldn't really do anything that you would notice. You may feel a bit more body roll but not sure, I have a coilover setup and dropped much lower than ASPEC.

I've never ridden in an ASPEC suspension car so couldn't give you real insight into it's riding or handling compared to stock. Maybe someone who has the ASPEC suspension set up can give better insight.

Not sure why you would want to do that, it's more work to swap out the springs from the ASPEC set up and put them into the regular stock one. Is this what you mean? If so I wouldn't do that as the shocks for ASPEC are designed to handle better from what I hear, but I have no personal experience with this. Or are you talking about simply taking the stock springs for a MT and put it in the AT shocks of the ASPEC set up? Again, I wouldn't wanna do the extra work and just get the AT or MT setup as they're the same price.
