Wheel brands

hey guys,

I am looking to get a set of wheels for my 06 tsx. But not sure what brands are quality that won't cost me an arm and a leg. I was looking to go with just 18's but i'm finding that there are like a million different brands out there. I like Racing Hart's Mandirin (but cant find any dealers in the tri-state area) and not sure about how much they can be. Was also looking at XXR 502's but they don't seem too expensive online but the estimate i got was almost 1800 with tires. Any ideas/brands to look into? I'm looking to spend around 2g's.

At 2k you've got lots of options. I just paid $1715CDN for a set of Enkei EKM3s (18x8) with Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires. Most of the Enkei Performance range will be in your price range and those are good wheels.

thanks guys, i'll look more into Enkei to see if i see some i like. I wanted to get one with a lip. I just thought that my budget was pretty decent, but after looking around the wheels i did like were more expensive than my budget :/ but if anyone has any other suggestions that would be cool.

I would also look at used wheels. You can find a good deal from time-to-time. I once found a nice set of machine gloss black Work Xd9's with tires for $1600.

Yea depending on what you want, at that price point used may be a better option.

The only wheels i could think of that are higher quality that are reasonably light weight and have lips would be the 5zigen Pro Racer GN+, the FN01R-C, and the LX9000. There are other good wheels in that price range, but they don't usually have lips.

Thanks guys. Has anyone heard anything on Advanti Racing wheels? I think they are made by konig. I was looking at the A3 Maui which come in 18" and has a lip. These are a little more of what I'm looking for. Something clean and not too much goin on. But I don't want to pay w/e for them if they are crap.

One thing to keep in mind is, it is the move to 18" wheels that really sets your car off from other TSX's. Nobody but you knows how much you paid for them. The important thing is, to make sure the darned things fit. I had 18 x 8 OZ Superleggera's with 40mm offset on my '04 TSX. I will never do that again (curb rash). My next set of wheels will have 45mm offset.

those superleggera's are really nice. but thanks. i'll keep the 45mm offset in mind. it's just so hard to choose some because you don't really know what they'll look like on your car unless someone else has them on the same car.

Please keep us posted, I have an 07 CGP and I'm in the same boat. Looking to go up to 18's, but don't want to break the bank.

Are you planning to lower your car or keep it stock? That will affect some of what you decide to do.

E.g. Lower offsets will give you a wider looking stance and make your stock height appear to be raised. Conversely, lowering with low offset might mean having to do fender work.

What caused the curb rash? Were the wheels hitting the fenders? Or did you mean the wheels stuck out to far for your liking?

With 40mm offset, your wheels will stick out past the fender. This makes it very easy to scratch them against the curb when parking.

I ended up putting a down pmt on Concept ONE R8'S today. i even stepped up and ordered 19's instead of 18's so i wouldn't have to mess with lowering the car or anything. I dont' remember the specs but once everything is said and done, i'll post up specs and hopefully some pics. they ended up being more than what i wanted to spend, but they should be worth it.

Yea, I know they were kind of an impulse buy. I look at some tsw's that were a couple hundred less so I just thought why not get the concept's. How come u guys are questioning it? Are they no good for the money? Or just don't like the style of the r8's?

You'll probably have an even larger gap with the 19s as 30-35 series tires are more common.

Lower it!!!

I was actually looking into the same work wheels you have cause ur ride looks awesome. But I got a price of 3400 just for rims! That was way more than what I wanted to spend. So I got the rs8's with continental dws tires. I'm excited, I'm getting them on Saturday morning.

so i'm about to get the tein basic damper coil over set, was wondering if i need to get a camber kit/top hat? I am only looking to lower my car like 1.5 to 2 inches. I think i remember reading anything over 1 inch, you would need to. Just wondering so i can order everything together, also any places where i could get a real good price on them?

You may need a rear camber kit, but not a front. the top hat kit is good to replace when you are installing new suspension, because you'll get wear and tear on them over time, and the car is a few years old.

I have a set of Basics for sale I will PM you.

What size tires did you go with? They look stretched.

There's an updated design to the Tein Basics - do something fast, like it's an emergency!

i went with 225/35/19 & 235/35/19. Don't remember what size is the front and what size is the back since i got them staggered (8 in the front and 8.5 in the back).

so finally, here are pics of the wheels/car after the drop. I got the Tein's basics from heel toe. Good price for the coil overs and the camber kit/top hat. Totally worth it.
