I saw a TSX for sale with the OEM wheels chromed, and was just wondering how they did that and if its removable?

 

Probably had someone remove the lacquer coating and then had them sprayed, in the same way the TL A-Spec wheels are done.
Chrome-look paint has been around for a good 2 years or so - I remember speaking to TVR's head paint specialist. He was all over the world being wined and dined by various companies making the raw pigments and bases, looking to get in there with them.
Back at the time, they were experimenting with the paints themselves.

 

i tihnk you can go on ebay and someone sells chrome dipped (?) TSX wheels if you trade yours in. check out dwest(something)'s ride, he has chromed oems and they look great

 

why remove the chrome? I just saw the 04-05 TSX rims in person yesterday.. hottt

 

Remove what chrome? They're not chrome plated.
All Honda's and Acura's wheels are painted - inc. the gunmetal Pentas.
The others that aren't painted are Diamond Cut/Polished (IIRC) for that bright finish.

 

There are OEM Acura/Honda wheels that are painted to resemble chrome, but I think Xizor is referring to the vendors that take OEM wheels and dip them for a processing fee and a trade of your original OEM wheels. A few people have done this... here's an example of chrome dipped (i.e., plated) OEM TL wheels. This is an acquaintance of mine from the "other" board...

 

Nothing wrong with chrome, it's just not my style. That's why I was wondering if you could have the chrome finish removed to get the normal look of the OEM wheels.

 

These wheels are on the TSX that i'm going to check out next week, and i'm just really not feeling them.

 

I'm not a big chrome guy either... if anything, if you happen to like the car, I'm sure you can find someone that would be willing to swap their stock wheels with yours. You may even be able to bank a few extra bucks on the exchange.

 

Damn amadeus, you have the sexiest car on this board IMO. Something about black wheels with a polished lip on a black car that makes me . You also have my favorite style of wheels which are mesh.

How much did the wheels/tires cost you? How's the ride comfort/noise level compared to stock?
