Tire wear's quick
I was wondering why doe's my tire's wear so fast on my 2004 Tsx. Iv'e search the forum and didn't find any thing. I'm on stock wheel's. Is there some kind of kit i need to install for the front end ? The O.E.M tire's only made it to 25.000 and my last set made it to 11.000. Three set's of tire's and only 65.000 mile's, Regular driving habit's. no racing around. Can any one give me an ideal. Thank's

What type of tires did you place on your TSX after OEM? Are the tires directional or non-directional tires? Is the wear on one side of the car compared to the other? How much city compared to hwy driving are you doing? What is the treadlife of the aftermarket tires (280, 540, or +700)? I have lifetime balance (Discount Tire), lifetime alignment (Firestone) and I keep the recommended PSI in all tires (A-spec suspension + Progress RSB).
I purchased directional Bridgestone 960 after my OEM wore out at 35,000 miles. The 960s are pretty good tires with less noise, better grip, and they looked cool, etc... I've noticed I was getting more wear on the driver side compared to the passenger side on the outside of the tire (especially the driver side front). Being directional tires, I could only rotate front to back compared the cross rotating with non-directional tires. I only got about 30,000 miles from the Bridgestones because of the excessive wear on outer edge on the driver’s side tires. I looked at my route to/from work and I make more right turns (10 turns) compared to left turns (7 turns) during my round trip. Most of my left turns are easy wide sweeping 90 degree turns compared to my right turns which are tighter from a right side turning lane or extra speed from entering/exiting curved hwy ramps.
I switched to Conti DWS because of the longer treadlife and they are non-directional tires. I now cross rotate every other rotation for even wear on all four tires. I still get the extra wear on the outside driver side; but, I spread the wear over four tires instead of two. I have +28,000 miles on the Conti DWS and the “S” is still showing on the tires.

it's a car-drive it
Wow, you do not get many miles on tires. The OEM Michelin tires lasted 74k miles, Yokohama Avid Vs4 69k and now have Yokohama Avid Envigor tires. I only had alignments when replacing the tires. I do get them rotated and balanced regularly. I keep them at the recommended tire pressure.

Thank's for the reply. Right now i have the Continental Extreme Contact DWS . Size's are 225/45/zr17. The right side front wear's the most. Lot's of residential driving,my wife's car.I guess that's the problem. So can i cross rotate them ?

Cross rotation gives you more even wear across all four tires, smoother ride and it helps keeps the tire quiet on the hwy longer (smoothes out any uneven spots when the tire is reversed).
