Tire Pressure in hot weather...lower or higher?

Is there any relationship to how much air you should put/give in your tires in hot weather or should I just follow the manual? (which I believe is 30-32 psi)

Follow the recommend specs. I usually run 34-36psi.

FWIW I checked my tire pressure last night after 1 month of ownership and found that all four tires were near 40psi. I checked these forums and saw that this has been an issue with new TSXs since '03. It's disappointing, as I was all excited to use my recently plumbed garage air line from my woodshop. Instead, all I got to do was let air out :-/

So, if anyone doubted it, it's still an issue.

in warmer weather it should be slightly higher. you should always check your tires after the car has been sitting a couple of hours (cold pressure) because when you drive, the air warms up and should be 2-3 psi higher. and 32/30 is what acura says.

You could have let out too much air "by accident"...

Yup, mine had too much air in them too when I got it home. I had to let air out to get them down to 32/30.

Why do you suggest following the recommended specs, but then going 4 above yourself?

My new TSX's tires were about .5lb low (prolly within the error of my gauge, tho), which I checked within a week or two of getting the car.

I put in a couple of extra pounds, in the thinking that it'll help with the handling, but I dunno what would be an optimal number. Safest to probably use the factory number; although the tires are rated for a lot more psi, you don't want to put in near that number, because the pressure increases as you drive and the tires get hot.

So you might recommend to someone to use the official specs so that they will be completely safe and not sue you if something bad happens. So, for the record, I also don't recommend anyone else add more air to their tires than that.

Remember that firestone tires failed and Ford Exploders exploded when they didn't have enough air in the tires, particularly in hot climates.

mine have been at 42 front 40 rear i guess it's too high?
but, doesn't it give you better gas mileage if you have higher psi on the tires?

Most accurate way of measuring tire pressure is when the car has been parked for 3+ hours either in a garage, or at night after the roan surfaces have cooled. I have always run 35lbs when measuring in this manner, and always get pretty good life out of my tires. If measuring immediately after driving, or if tires are hot from sitting on hot assphalt, your measurements are not going to be as acurate, because you will have to increase pressure by 2-5lbs (37-40lbs). Following that method should but you close to where you should be, but I recommend checking them cold.
