After massive help from all you guys, reading many many reviews and posts, and comparing overall features. I have limited my tire purchase to 2 tires.
1) Bridgestone Turanza LS-V ($149)
2) Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Position ($159)
I'm looking for a tire between the two that offers best:
* Rain Traction
* Snow Traction (I know the Turanza is decent...how about the Potenza?)
* Tread Life
* Resistance to Tramlining <---my stock Michelin's make the car drive all over
the place when there are even minor bumps.
heard this is a directional tire issue?
I've decided that the $40 dollar difference is really not important.
I just want the best pick between the two and I've had really really good experience with Bridgestone in the past. I HATE Michelin now.
Thanks

Neither will give you good snow traction, so remove that as a criteria, or, get snow tires.
Light snow traction is all I am looking for. I know no tire is perfect.
Also, what's the difference in the fact that the Turanza are Grand Touring and the Potenza being Ultra High Performance?

Generally speaking, Grand Touring are less "aggressive" but longer lasting, than UHP tires.Originally Posted by chrisb55

What are the treadwear, traction, and temperature ratings of the two tires in the sizes you're looking at? AA > A > B > C for both Temperature and Traction. The higher the number for treadwear, the longer the tire will last in terms of miles. a 320 treadwear will last exactly twice as long, on average, than a tire with a (320/2=) 160 treadwear. But, normally, longer lasting = harder compound = less overall traction.
C'mon, man! Row yer own.
I think you'll get a lot of votes here for the RE960, bear in mind this forum tends to have more performance-minded people than grand touring-minded people. I voted for the RE960 along the same lines; I'd bet from reading reviews on Tire Rack that inclement weather performance will be similar between the two and the RE960 will be by far the more sporting.
For a sports sedan like the TSX, that would unquestionably be my choice for my own car. I look forward to reading how you like whichever one you choose. Good luck!

I see they're both 95 load rated, and XL, and both have 400 treadwear indicators. Probably will wear the same. They both seem to rate excellent wet and dry traction, not enough responses to register snow traction for the RE960s but I'll bet it's not quite as good as the Turanzas. That'll be a little trade-off, I'd bet. Additional

Yes, I would like to have at least some snow traction out of either of these tires. I tried finding reviews EVERYWHERE on the 960's, but found none.
Since they both have 400 rated treadware indicators, would the 960s be a better deal? Giving the sportiness along with the same traction and treadlife?
Temp Rating of AA A.
Sorry, I forgot to add that would either the 960s or the Turanzas be more prone to higher sensitivity? My TSX suffers greatly in uneven terrain...the wheel goes left and right in bumps and the car steers along with the unevenness in the roads that I drive on rather than maintaining a straight line. I've had the brakes/rotors/control arms replaced by the dealer, and tires are just about the only thing thats left.
I read a post from one of the members from Australia stating that it was a direcional tire issue causing the added crappy steering. I know the 960s are directional tires...any link or truth in this?
Thanks guys.

On the other "which tyres" thread, there was a pdf of a test done recently - the Goodyear F1's came tops, with the Conti Sports 2nd. Yoko's Advan something were 3rd.
On the basis of that alone, you'd be looking for one of those to fit.
I'm surprised to see the Toyo T1-Rs down in 7th, as I recently had these fitted on the rear. Compared to the cheap crap the previous company owner stuck on before putting the vehicle through auction, I'm more than happy with the - especially as the cheapies (eqiv. $80) are as useful as marshmallows are in the wet/damp.
Anything more than 25mph and a fair amount of lock on, and the front slides rather than steers.
So, like the other thread - I'd advocate the above mentioned ones, as well as suggest you consider the Yoko AVS Sports, Mastercraft Avenger ZHP (Avon ZZ3 in Europe and standard fit on upgrade wheels for Honda Legend - your Acura TL or RL - whichever is supposed to be be a contender against BMW 5 Series).

I got a set of these about a year ago. My only comparison was with the OEM Michelins. The difference was phenomenal. The Turanzas handled much better, were a lot quieter, softened the ride, and handled much better in rain. We only had one snowfall last winter, and I didn't drive during it, so I can't compare the ride, but the OEM tires didn't work in the snow at all.
