Time for some new Rubber!

So...I need two new tires on my car. I had two Michelins put on about a year ago so I really dont want to replace all four.

I am thinking about putting Falken Ziex ZE-912s in the rear...anyone know if this would be a problem(having two michelins in the front and two Falkens in the back)?
I am basically most concerned about a tire that will last a long time that i can get cheap (i can get these for ~$90 each)
Anyone have any suggestions?

thanks!

You should buy two michelin in the back. Having 2 different kind of tire might affect driving and handling in poor weather condition or when you push it to hard.

I would not get the Falkens if you're looking for tread life. They're a good tire for the money. They handle very respectably for the price but the tread life just isn't there. Mine are bald as hell with something like 8 to 10k miles on them (I don't know exactly because my winter tires were on for some of it and I didn't keep track of the miles).

I would also not mix completely different tires like that. It's not likely to have a terrible outcome but a less than desirable one is likely (noise, balance, handling issues).

ive had falken 329 which is very similar to 912 and its been on my teg since 55k, now 75k and still have over 70% thread left. And i dont drive my teg easy during the turns, so i think theyre doing pretty well. ze329 are rated 30k miles just like the 912, just make sure you do tire rotations every 5-7.5k miles

I currently own these. I have not had one problem with them. The are amazing in dry weather and rain. They actually handle better in snow than I could expect from all season tires. I have driven them for 10,000 miles and have no wear to them. They come with an 80,000 mile warranty. I would definitely suggest these tires.

^^^ There's definitely some wear on those tires, it's just not immediately obvious to the naked eye.

I'm not sure why I went through my tires as fast I did. I mean I do thrash the car around a good bit and 85% of my miles are twisty, hilly non-highway roads so the conditions are not exactly ideal for tread life. Still, 8k to 10k miles is pretty weak for something that's not ultra high performance summer tire. Tread wear is almost perfectly even after two rotations so it does not appear to be an alignment issue.

Well yeah, obviously there is some wear but not much at all. I blew my front tire out on a foot deep pothole two weeks ago, and they told me I didn't need to buy two tires because there was almost no wear on the other front tire. They're really nice tires though.
