The time has come to get SLAMMED.
Well, got my W-2 today, looks like im getting a WHOLE $155 dollars back from those Feds
Well, finally decided to get dropped about 2 inches or so. What do you guys recommend? I've been looking at various threads and pictures. I'm looking for a sportier ride, and a low look. I was looking at the Tein Basics, but i heard theres alot of noise? Then I looked at the Eibach pro-kit and getting aftermarket shocks, but its going to wear out the dampers and such, i heard? (the whole, springs and shocks way confuses me, seems kinda unsafe due to wearing out dampners?) And now i'm looking at the Tanabe Sustec Pro Type II Coilovers. I just dont know..help please!

Dwight K. Schrute says: Get the Basics. They offer a smooth ride with sporty performance.
I was probably one of the biggest skeptics on the forum concerning the Tein Basics coilovers.
After some research, I found out the noise was due to faulty installation.
I got mine installed professionally, then performed an alignment after a week to let the coilovers settle.
If you are getting new wheels make sure to balance them as well.
I have had the basics for 2 years! and they are perfect. No noise. Body roll and brake squat reduced. Taking corners feels like its riding on rails. Besides the sharp handling, the steering got heavier which I wanted because it feels more like a BMW now.( I hated the floaty feeling when cruising on highways).
Handling improved so much, I still have the OEM RSB cause I felt thicker RSB was not needed. I even drove 20 miles when I got pounded with a snow storm driving home one day and they performed quite well.
I opted for the standard drop that TEIN spec'ed out of the box. Meaning I didn't slam it but got a subtle wheel gap reduction.

theres a few threads on it, they say it comes from the front springs. some say its at all times, some say its only for the first 5 mins of the drive.

The recommended drop from TEIN is 2 inches (front), and 1.6 inches(rear).
Most people don't even know I'm lowered, but its subtle enough to notice aesthetically.

Aftermarket spring + aftermarket shock will give you great comfort than the coilover; but, the adjustability is also limited than coilover. This setup will NOT pre-maturely damage your shock, unless the shock is STOCK.
You need to explain if adjustment is your primary goal, also your expectation on performance.
Quick summary but you need to search and digest:
1. Budget setup: TEIN Basic (Height not damper); Mugen 5-Way (Damper not height); Tanabe SP T-II (Comfort not performance); Eibach Spring + Koni Yellow (Damper not height)
2. Mid Setup: TEIN SS (Both height & damper); BuddyClub N+ (Both height & damper); K-Sport (Not top company, but it gives more than you want; e.g. 24/32 ways of adjustability compare to general 16);
3. Track Setup: TEIN Flex (Both H&D; higher stiffer spring rate; can pair w/ EDFC); Tanabe Pro Seven/Five (Both H&D; higher stiffer spring rate; can pair w/ EAC); BuddyClub Racing Spec Damper (Both H&D; higher stiffer spring rate) etc

I had the eibach springs at first and they were nice, but then i purchased the basics and they are a huge upgrade. I wish i wouldnt have been a little cheap and got the basics the first time around

I love the look of the drop with the basics. I think that's a good decision. I don't imagine you're going to be tracking it much (or at all) so the blend of performance and comfort on the basics is a really nice balance.
If I ever getting around to changing my setup I think that's the way I'd go. One thing I really like about the TSX is it's balance of ride and handling. Doesn't take much to make it a little more aggressive either.
Now I'm jealous.
