Question Tien SS Coilovers

Do Tien Super Street Coilovers allow you to change the height without going under the car, if so how. Why is it so much better than the Eibach Pro-Kit and more expensive? Ur

No, you cannot adjust ride height from within the car for any of the Tein series (not sure about other coilover brands). You can adjust dampning only within the car with the EDFC controler on the SS and Flex series.

Tein's and any coilovers are going to be more expensive then just springs because your getting a strut and a spring all in one package.

you can however adjust the height w/o taking off the wheels (if you have small hands), just by jacking it up.

The SS have been available for around $900 shipped; compare that with Koni struts/your choice of springs, which would be around $750; in the same ball park. Using just springs is not even worth comparison because it doesn't give you anywhere near the same level of performance.

The FLEX costs more due to the fact that it's a complete unit including top mounts and all hardware pre-assembled; it also includes adjustable lower mounts as well as the threaded lower perch. I paid $1290 shipped for mine.....

Also, no EDFC for the SS on the TSX. Not enough clearance for the motors.

Just had my Tein SS coilovers installed this weekend. You need to jack up the car to adjust the height just for the simple fact of getting the weight off of the car. As far as adjusting for a a firmer/softer ride, you can do it pretty easily if you drill 2 small holes in the plastic behind the rear seats for the rear, and just popping the hood for the fronts. I will have picks soon. It dropped my car about 2 inches front and back. It sits so sweet now. No noise porblems due to JTso's meticulous installation techniques. The ride is stiffer than stock, but I am still tunning it in. It handles soooooooomuch better than it already did. Will have pics in the next day or 2.

They were about $900 shipped. I upgraded my order from the basics so I could adjust the dampening, and glad I did.

I agree with Lanny.....Using just springs is not even worth comparison.....if you can afford the full coilover vs the springs...do it!

We spend too much time sitting in front of the computer surfing the net. Don't really have time to get out to do any work or meet the co-workers.

Has anyone had any problems with the Tien SS coilovers, I heard that some people were hearing clanking noises when going over bumps... Has anyone experienced the same type of thing? Where did you get your Tien SS's for $900 shipped?

It was ABOUT $900 shipped. Most likely a FEW buck more, but I bought a few things with it and was given a good package deal. It's an around about price. I haven't had a chance to realy look at my invoice yet. I got the package and was so excited to get it I forgot about the invoice. I went through MR.HEELTOE! He did give me a better deal than anyone else I found. So I suggest trying him first! Don't hold him to that price since I may be wrong, but not far off! I ordered it on Thurs, had them by Wed, and they were in the car by sat @ 1:30. Fairly painless and fast!

^^ His was installed by someone very experienced though. I'm thinking the install has something to do with whether or not there is noise.

JTso, is there anything special that you did during the install to help prevent noise?

Thanks In Advance.

Nothing special. Just follow the tightening sequence and torque spec and make sure metal sleeve (item #4) is installed center of shock bushings (item #2), leaving space at the top and bottom of the bushings. Otherwise, the metal sleeve can come in contact with washers (item #1 and/or #3) causing pontential noise problem during compression or rebound. If the top bushings are worn out, replace them. And take your time to inspect your installation.

My SS are set at 13 clicks away from stiffest. I don't know how that will compare to the Basics ride since you can't adjust the settings
