Tein SS or Basic - Good enough for a track day?

Wondering if I can get your feedback/opinions on which of the Tein SS or Basic coilovers I should get. Hopefully some of you can speak from first hand experience.

Basically I'm looking to get one of these coilovers, and I'm wondering if they'll suffice for the occational (2-3 times a year) track/lapping day with a club like BMWCCA etc. (not auto-X), while still maintaining reasonable day to day driveability. I've done all the searches and it seems like the basic is the same as the softest SS setting. Do you think that the Basic would have reasonable performance on the track, or would the extra dampening on the SS be necessary/useful? Or is the situation, flex or nothing? I'm not too keen on jumping up to the flex level of pricing.

Thanks for any help/advice.

I say SS, and for only one reason. If you are active enough to take your car to the track AT ALL you are going to appriciate the damper adjustment capability. Most folks will love the Basics, but the SS with damper adjustment are going to let you play a little more.

Anything over this will add pillows. This is great for responsiveness on the track, but may result in some daily driving harshness that you MAY not like. The effect is similar to that of low profile tires, only a little more aggressive.

Thanks for the replies!

Here comes the next dilemma!

Just got an offer on some used SSR Competition rims, 17X7.5 (not looking for 18s), and the offer is at a really good price. So what would you pick given the choice between a good deal on some lightweight SSR rims, or the Tein SS coilovers and camber adjust?

And of course, both would be ideal, but there's no way that's gonna happen! (married)

Thanks again!

Will you be getting better tires as well if you get the SSR? If not, I'd go with suspension first. Just my opinion.

I say suspension first. The stock ride height plain out sux! The car will look better lowered with stock rims than stock ride height and new rims. IMO..
