sway bar questions.

i wanna get the front and rear sway bars but i dont know which ones to get. im also wondering for the front sway bar, is it neccesary? How about the front upper tie bar, is it neccesary to get? i heard that the rear sway bar makes a big difference. im getting the rear for sure, comptech por nuespeed? i want all 3 rear and front sway and also the front tie bar. which ones will dramatically change my handling and which ones wont b necessary. thanx

Front sways can actually make things a bit worse and upper tie bars are mostly cosmetic so i've heard.

Rear sway will make a big improvement, i'd go with either progress or comptech. Progress if you plan on upgrading your exhaust system

the rear sway bar has a huge impact, get the CompTech or Progress bars. I don't know of anyone with the Neuspeed, but its the smallest aftermarket one, and the TSX definately needs as big as possible.

I don't know of anyone with a front sway, but in general they're not popular for FWD cars since they can add understeer.

The upper front tie bar doesn't change handling, but it does make the car stiffer and tighter. I really like mine because it makes the steering feel tighter, even if its a small change.

$$$'s vs. ROI

Get the Rear Sway Bar and forget the rest. Save your $$$'s for the Reflash. Next address the intake area and cooling the air intake TB. When it's time for new rubber get the best you can find for either AW or S & W driving. That's what I think is the best bang for the buck approach if your more interested in improving your ride rather than modding it for style. Now I'm going to get slammed by the "drop & rock" crowd but what I'm saying is for the least amount of $'s this is the way to go. If you've got more time & money to invest then by all means spend them to your heart's content.

other than the comptech one, the other aftermarket ones are additions, not replacements. only the comptech replaces the OEM

Should I let the dealer keep/scrap my OEM RSB?

Is there any value to the OEM rear sway bay? I've got my car in the shop today for the Comptech RSB, and I'm wondering if I should ask for the old parts or let them keep and/or dispose of them.

Keep the old bar in case you decided to return it back to stock.

You still enjoying your RBS, JTso? Did you ever need to use grease or teflon tape on the bushings as described in the other threads here?

I like my Progress bar as it solved my problem with the Tanabe exhaust. The OEM bar also allowed me to run the new exhaust while waiting for the Progress bar to arrive. Another good reason to keep it. I've always used silicone grease with poly bushings. However, I'm open to try the teflon tape if I have to.

Ditto JTso... Keep the OEM RSB. I've got the Comptech RSB and have no problems or complaints. I think it's the best 1st upgrade you can do. Have fun!!!

when you guys say "tie bar" that is cosmetic, are you talking about the tower brace strut bar? which is the easiest to see in an open hood?

i was thinking of getting a strut and rear sway, but if the front tower strut doesn't really help i wont bother (it is a lot more expensive than a rear sway too)

I'd recommend the Progress over the Comptech just because it can be adjust and it clears aftermarket exhaust unlike Comptech where you could only use Comptech exhaust.
Also, you get poly bushings with the Progress bar.

I don't use silicone "spray". I use silicone "grease" which is very thick and tacky and won't wash off by rain.

Hell no... WD-40 is just a cheap petroleum (oil) based spray. It's good for nothing IMO.

If you want good lubricating SPRAY, get Jig-A-Loo (silicone spray), and for good grease, white lithium grease or silicone-based grease are great.

WD-40 is good at removing grease and grime... think about that for a minute.

ahh rgr.

Jtso, I've read on another thread that teflon tape actually works better than silicon grease since you won't have to reapply the grease every now and then. How do you wrap the tape, on the inside of the bushing where it touches the bar? that question sounds a bit dumb, but just wanna make sure as I'm installing my progress bar this weekend thanks in advance!

That's what I did. Wrapped it around the bar and then slipped the bushing around the tape.

Nope, only things I've seen are front strut brace and lower braces (Type I and II). Check with Mr. Heeltoe.
