My oem tires hardly have any grip. I even get scared on dry roads sometimes. I definitely need to replace my tires (only 22k miles on them), but I don't want to waste money and have to store them in the garage when I probably will never use them again.
wish we were closer to you. I would gladly change tires with you. I have one month old Yoko Avid 4s tires. (only 10K miles on them)

I just replaced my OEM tires yesterday. I went with Eagle GT's. I have to say that the OEM's were not that bad overall. They are pretty quiet, and they lasted for a good amount of time (roughly 55K). I never thought anything bad about them until everyone complained about them on this site. If you are looking for an ultra grippy tire, go with something dedicated to summer. I mean, what kind of driving are people doing that they are scared of the traction on dry roads? (I assume that people are going semi low speeds-under 45-50), if talking higher speeds... just slow down a bit. Anyway, I am the type that drives 20K-25K a year. I PERSONALLY would give up tad bit of grip to have better longevity of my tires... hence keeping some money in my pocket.

Are you saying that based on your experience in the rain or do you have other issues with the Yokos? I'm asking because I'm trying to decide on whether to go with the General UHP or the Yoko Avids as my replacement for the stockies.

My opinions are based on the 3 cross country roadtrips. The first two were with the OEM tires and the last was with Yoko's. We had excellent luck with the OEMs, no loss of traction but with the yoko's we did and they are very noisy. The yokos are cheaper but the tire life is about 30,000 miles. We got 74,000 miles out of the OEM tires. We average 30,000+miles a year so safety, comfort, tire life, noise level are our concerns.

Yeah, I've got the Yokos too. I completely agree with nj2pa2nc's conclusions. I've got about 20k on mine and they're very loud--also, gas mileage is worse with these than with the OEMs. I won't buy them again.

Thanks for your input. Looks like its the Generals for me. I won't get the OEMs again.

Hi,

New member. Have new Avid V4s' on my 2006 TSX and am very pleased. Very good all around tire. And much less expensive than the OEMs.
