Staggered Rims? Anyone doing it?

Im a newbie and I did a search, but I wanted to see if anyone is running staggered rims here? Or can it even be done with TSX?
Im probably going to go with some type of dished rims and I was thinking 18x7.5 in the front and 18x8.5 in the rear. Does anyone know if this will work?

Only person I know of running staggered rims is a member named MarineTSX. However, he has a widebody kit and the car is primarily a show car so it's fine. Running a staggered setup with staggered tire widths is not recommended on a FWD car. The added grip in the rear induces excessive understeer and can ruin the feel. Also, an 8.5 inch wide rear wheel will likely be too wide without a widebody kit.

Okay, Im not a newbie when it comes to vehicles and how cars work. I understantd that it is not recommended on a FWD vehicle. I just wanted to see if anyone is running them on their TSX.

Plus, it just looks so damn sexy!!

My friend Martin and his buddy Josh's car. Martin is running 19x8.5 f and 19x9.5 r. Josh is running 19x8 or 8.5 f and 19x10 or 10.5 r.

To me it just looks silly knowing that the car is FWD.

Trust me I understand that the understeer will be slightly enhanced because its a FWD car, but I think it looks really nice. Im not saying Im going to do it, but I was interested in anyone has any experience with them on a TSX.

You could probably run 8.5" wide wheels on the back but you're going to have to get a really high offset. Somewhere around +60 should work.

MarineTSX's car is running 19x9 and 19x10 but he's done a little work to make them fit https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17684

I don't get the VW owners. They seem to thing the stagger wheel setup is the way to go. For god's sake, they're still FWD.

Well, with the MK4's (Jettas and Golf/GTI's 99-05) had very large rear wheel wells. Unfortunately, most would put spacers on or dream about staggard wheels (i kid i kid). Not all of like the staggard setup and trust me if I was racing the car and really beating on it, then staggard would not do. However, if the car is going to be driven just for daily driving and for show, I feel like there is nothing wrong with it.

Styling is completely subjective. But I'd be able to understand this mod alittle better if it was in some way functional.

stagger = ghetto.

unless you have a widebody like marinetsx, which i'm guessing that you dont.

you cant even rotate your tires.

no performance increase.

no point.

interesting can you still rotate them if you are running same size tires front and back lets say 225/40/18 or 225/45/18's on 18x7.5F, 18x8.5R?

Only if you unmout the tires and move them to the front wheels. Unless you want to move your wide wheels to the front, in which case that would be super ultra mega ghetto extreme edition XP.

It is very popular in Europe running staggered setups on VW's, not just hte MK4's. Of course that is going to follow suit over here. I think it looks OK as long as the offset is not too wild. On a MK4 Jetta that does not handle too well to begin with, I don't think the degraded cornering ability would be too big of a deal. But on the TSX that handles very well, especially with a nice aftermarket suspension, I would not go near it.
