A Spec Suspension and Rims

Is the A Spec suspension good? Would it be more beneficial to get that as opposed to aftermarket?
If I go aftermarket, with 18in wheels, what is the most I could lower it? What brands do you recommend?

Also I am searching for 18in wheels. I want black rims with a chrome lip. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

You are def going to get nailed with the Search feature dude from other members. There are tons of threads discussing the differences between the aspec and coilovers. The aspec is not adjustable btw. There is also a group buy going on for the aspec suspension so let me know if your interested. I also started a thread myself wanting to know what 18" wheels would look like on an aspec suspension, so just do a serach for that under my name and you'll find it!

As for wheels, again, there have been MANY posts regarding where to get wheels and such, so take a look.

If you have any specific questions after you search and read through the plethora amount of info, then feel free to ask any questions you'd like

I have aspecs and 18 ronjon's https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36605

The gap isn't as low as i wanted it to be but its just right for my preference and keeping the stock ride feel.

Crazyazn is one of the people that posted in my thread, he will give you a good idea of what your looking for. My aspec suspension should be here tonight

Crazyazn - BTW, what size tires are those Falkens? 225 or 235?

ive got an 04 tsx with the aspec and 18x7.5 rims. the aspec will give it that "sport feel" that it claims but it only drops about 1". i like the ride because it keeps tha acura feel , lowers it,(little) but tightens it up on the turns. im gonna end swap it out with a 5way adj. sup. because i definitley want a more aggresive stance. if you look in the mods gallery ive got a couple of picks with the set up. like maybe page 4ish?

Hahaha, well thanks fellas (assuming EuRTSX isn't being sarcastic )!!

I haven't been here all that long and i can't believe how many people actually ask the same question that is literally posted a few threads down froms theirs (maybe i did this as well too). I haven't yet gotten completely tired of trying to at least point the guys in the right direction. I give them the benefit of the doubt that they honestly don't know where to start and just want to ask a question or two. If the question is seriously a dumb question or if it is asked poorly or such, then i usually ignore them....lol

Seriously though, i am amazed at how much information is here. I got my new 06 and new nothing about what the MID was displaying (other than obvious stufff) but like the oil indicator. I assumed it was the amount of oil but instead of posting a question thread, i spent about 30-40 mins searching and found out it is the oil life, it decreases by 10% increments until it reaches i think 15%, and the goes by 5% after that. So after all that ranting, a big thanks to all the guys that have been here for a long time and that have helped me and other outs!

EDIT: And i gave back, i got the cheapest price i have ever seen for the aspec suspension GB LOL

I think the key to keeping wheel gap respectable and putting 18's on a car with A-Spec suspension is to go with a 235/40/18 tire size - this is the closest to stock.

225/40/18, the most popular size by far for an 18" wheel, is actually smaller in diamater than the stock setup. This creates a larger wheel gap.

I plan to install the A-Spec myself on my 04 6 speed this weekend, and slap some 18x8's with 235/40/18 tires on them in the coming month.

I apologize for the inconvenience. I found out what I was doing wrong in the search fields. For some reason when I searched for stuff nothing would ever come up. Well that is because The wrong subforum, or whatever you choose what to look in, was selected. Guess my computer defaulted the wrong one. Since I realized that lets just say......I have seen the light!!
Thank you to all who tried to help, got irrititated with people like me, and those who just ignored because you knew it was a stupid question.
Whoever is in charge or whoever can close threads go ahead and close this one. I will make sure to do better next time.
One last question is......what do I do if I want to add to a closed thread? PM me the answer.
Thanks again

You can't add to a closed thread. If you feel you have something of value to add to a closed thread PM a mod and we'll see what we can do. But generally a thread was closed for good reason (got out of hand) and are not re-opened.

Hey, no need to apologize, your allowed one freebie but that means don't let it happen again

Once you get the hang of the search feature, it is really good. Sometimes if you incorporate quotation marks it may help narrow it down (at least from what i found to be the case).

As far as i know you can't add to a close/locked thread.....but i'm not 100% about that.

EDIT: Dom cleared up my last comment, you can't....lol

I know. I've been a prick to Noob's many times as well. We just have to remember that this place won't grow or be interesting without new life. Last thing I want is to end up like the 1st gen CL section.

And that is where we come in....the guys who have been here for a yr give or take and have learned from reading your posts. We can answer the questions that you have already provided answers using pretty much your answer in our words....lol. It saves you the trouble and then when (and if we answer it correctly), you can do what jan and and just say "i agree"......lol. I then add in a little bit of my experience from doing certain jobs myself and when your talking about installation it always helps to get a lot of opinions.

Here is a couple of really stupid newbie question...but do I need to get an alignment after the aspec suspension install. If so, do I need a 4 wheel or just a front wheel alignment. Thanks for not cutting off my head

I would recommend you get an alignment, but not immediately after the installation. I would wait a couple of weeks to see if the suspension settles a bit and then get a 4-wheel alignment done. Also, you may find that the rear camber will not be within spec after the alignment thus requiring a rear camber kit to get it back in spec. Its hit and miss whether you'll need it. If your rear camber is already out of spec (i.e. like in the TSB) it may be worthwhile to get the TSB taken care of first and then have the A-spec installed.

Thanks for the info jlukja. When was the TSB issued? Might you have a link to it, so I can print it out for when I walk in the door at the stealership. Thanks again!

^^ I replied to your PM. I'm working on getting all the TSX TSBs posted in the FAQ section so hopefully, they'll be easier to find in the near future.

Markm929 - I am going to be putting my suspension on in 1-2 weeks along with a set of new wheels so i will be getting an alignment within a day or so. However, for the reason that jlukja mentioned about the suspension settling, i will go back to the alignment place to get it checked about 3-4 weeks later just to make sure.

Actually, Jan, quick question. Do you think when it comes time for the winter and i switch from my Ron Jon 18's with 225 tires back to my stock tires i would need an alignment, or visa-versa for that matter? I was assuming the ratio is close enough i wouldn't need to but was looking for some confirmation on that.

No, you shouldn't need an alignment. Changing the wheels isn't changing anything with the way the suspension is dialed in unless you also make adjustments to the height or make other changes.

It is TSB No. 06-007, Issued March 8, 2006. It applies to all 04 models and 05 models with VIN numbers ending 00001 - 15076. I only have it in pdf format so if you PM me your e-mail address I can send it to you as an attachment.

Nothing changes with the suspension geometry if you only swap the wheels.
