Linear.
Steer clear of progressive unless the shock has been specifically designed for them - which most aren't.

^^^Exactly... If you're going to lower, buy some coilovers (which the A-Specs are btw) because they are matched specifically to each other.

Impossible to say given lack of knowledge about how Konis are setup for damping rates and equally, the spring rates H&R specify for the TSX.
Thread going on here about AMR Engineering suspension for $900 all in, with everything set in relation to each other and the car. You can adjust the damping (16 steps) and custom spring rates if you let them know the type of driving you do, style, and what you're looking to achieve.
This for me is the best option to go for and the relatively small difference in price between them (or D2s from the vendor within that thread) and the Koni/H&R/whatever combo is worth paying to achieve a good setup rather than hitting and hoping via the Koni route.
Some people have been satisfied with the Konis and chosen springs, but it's all a bit hit and miss if you'll be too.
Bottom line, it's not worth blowing a right few hundred $$$ because you're itching to do it, but rather take your time to explore things more fully and save the extra to give the option of going down either path, whenever you've decided after researching things more fully.
Whimsical notions take us all - only the brave/stupid/foolhardy/more-money-than-sense ones act upon them without thinking things through enough, and most (if honest) regret acting on that whim.
