Silver Star's or A-Specs for My NBP TSX
I'm ordering some rims tomorrow and I cannot decide which way to go...I have a new NBP AT TSX and I'm torn between the OEM 17" Silver Star's or the 17" A-Spec Smoke Finish rims. I have seen pics of the A-Specs on NBP and I love the way it looks, but I really like the Silver Star's too. Do you think the Silver Star's are to dark for a black car? I cannot find a photo of a NBP with the Silver Star's to see for sure. There may be one in the Wheel Gallery, but the link isn't currently working. Anyone got any photo's of a NBP with Silver's? Any input and photos appreciated. I'm getting a great deal either way as a good buddy is a parts mgr of a major Acura dealership. But having said that it's still a $450 bump up in cash to the A-Specs so I want to be sure. If it matters the car will be getting the A-Spec Suspension at the same time so it will be dropped a little. Thanks

Personally, I like the Silver Stars alot... When they're mounted on the TSX, they remind me a bit of an Audi A4. I think they make the car look more "sporty".
I do, however, REALLY like the A Specs in 18" (for the TL - same design, but 18x8"). So if you were going that route, I'd go with the A Specs.

Right decision but make sure it is the 8" width one instead of the 8.5". For tires, I will go for PZero Nero M&S. I have them, they are cheaper than ES100 but still very good preformance, very quiet and very long life. The only draw back is they dun look aggressive with its round edge.

I heard about those dom thanks for the link. ianS from what I've read and was told all the '05 TL A-spec rims are now 8". Only the '04's were 8.5". Hope that's correct! I'll be bummed if not...

Well I guess after a bit more research on this site I found out that those rims are actually just considered TL Optional Rims and not A-Spec.
I'm having the A-Spec Suspension Kit installed in the next week and I have an AT. I know the drop will most likely be only around a 1" or so. What size tires should I look at for these rims which are 18X8-45 offset? I want to fill the gap up a bit, but I do not want to risk any rubbing or anything like that. I think these rims will fit fairly flush to the outside of the fender. At least that's what I'm hoping anyways. I can still change my order and switch to the actual 17" A-Specs that were made for the TSX if I have to. Thanks for the help.

Wow, $948 shipped for the Hyper Black? That's an amazing price; who's doing that? The best price I had seen on those was like $1250 or $1300 plus shipping. Even in the much cheaper Silver Sparkle finish the best price I've seen is $980 plus shipping.
With the moderate A-spec drop, you're gonna want close to factory diameter, so your choices would be 215/45/18 if you care not about rim protection. Besides that, there are only a few tires in that size and they are all expensive. But they won't protrude from the fender.
Another option would be 235/40/18. Good diameter, good rim protection, more and cheaper choices, BUT, with that offset and a 235, may appear to stick out a little.
225 would be a nice compromise width wise, but a 45 series is on the large side (may work with A-Spec drop but I'm not gonna recommend it) and a 40 series will look too small with A-Spec......
Good luck, and post lots of pics when you're done!

Lanny, I have a friend who is a parts mgr. at a large u.s. acrua dealership. thus the pricing. After reviewing everything again tonight I think maybe he was confused on what I wanted. I will let you know what happens. If they are not the black chrome wheels it's a not a big deal as he will just throw them in his inventory. I still may take them if they are sparkle silver, but I hope he can get black chrome. I have read and heard now that maybe the black chrome are no longer being offered in the TL 18"? Just maybe the chrome type and the silver sparkle are all you can get? This stuff is so confusing! Thanks

Part # 08W18-SEP-200B is the '05 A-Spec wheel, and I'm guessing that's what you're calling hyper black. I've seen it listed as platinum and light chrome as well.
Part #P08W18-SEP-200C is the high polish chrome, and 08W18-SEP-200D is the Silver Sparkle.

Lanny,
Were the actual specs ever published on the A-Spec Concept TSX? If not what would be your educated guess on the rim size and finish as well as the tire size? I was thinking they were 18X8 in the Chrome Look with 245/45/18 Yokes? This is really the car I'm trying to replicate with my NBP TSX.
I have been in love with the exact exterior look of this car for a long, long time. I just decided to go with the black instead of the blue...Thanks for the input and I have enjoyed reading all of your posts in the last few weeks. Very informative.

Edmunds review
I'm fairly certain that those are the original TL A-Spec rims, back when they only made them in 8.5". The new 8" will be a better choice/look on the TSX.
As far as finish, I don't think they ever released the chrome look, but my feeling would be that the C would be closest, but maybe the B. Tough to say without seeing them in person and side by side......
Thanks for the kind words; hope this helps.
