Shock Replacement for 06 TSX

Hey Guys,

I'm at 130K miles on my 06 TSX and I've been feeling the bumps a lot more lately. I am looking to replace the original shocks at a local shop. I've read a lot on here about the aftermarket brands, but I think I am just going to go with OEM.

I noticed that they no longer sell the full assemblies (https://www.oemacuraparts.com/v-2006...shock-absorber). Should I just purchase the 4 shock absorber units? Or are there any other parts from the full assembly that would make sense to purchase as well?

Thanks for your input!
-Pete

Monroe assemblies are available if you like that brand:

I would buy the dampers (shocks) themselves, as well as the bumpstops.

Everything else *should* be ok.

Unless you live in a climate where they salt the roads. Then there is a good chance all the hardware is rusted. There is also a chance that the tophats are rusted.

I found the front assemblies here:

https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/...ber,1309503,10

However, they do not have the rear assemblies. For the rear, would the dampers, bumpstops, and dust covers suffice? Would I need anything else? I do live in Chicago...

Thanks for the help thus far!

I live in the Chicago burbs. The salting is brutal out here.

Your tophats might be toast. You may or may not be able to remove the hardware due to rust also. It probably all looks like a part from the titanic by now, TBH.

You're a lot better off buying assemblies. The labour cost to assemble bare shocks usually outweighs just buying the assembly. And you'll have all new parts. And you'll be ready to go as soon as the part is in hand.

Idk if you're aware, but dealer parts sites like curryacuraparts and bernardiparts offer massive discounts over buying from a local dealer.

Well...you can buy the factory dampers and then use rockauto for the tophat and tophat bushing portions.

If your springs aren't rusted, reuse them.

Bumpstops *should* be OK...as well as rubber boots. You may need to hack up (saw/cut) your out-going dampers to get all the components you need to swap over.
