You mean meaner than the Acura OEM ones? What's wrong with them? I'd hate to lose my new rims (still en route), too... actually, I'm not even positive the OEM lugs / locks will fit my new rims.

Hows it goin!

I'm waiting for my 18X7.5 CE28N's in Mercury Silver +50 offset (Ordered from Japan), so I've had a lot of time to research the wheel lock issue. I got Bull lock JDM open end locks for ALL 20 nuts. That means 20 locks, 5 different keys, and no more regular lug nuts for MAXIMUM security. The best thing is, they only weigh 25 grams each instead of the 60 grams like the nuts that came with your rims. Also, the OEM lug nuts don't work on VOLK wheels because of the different shape of the 'seat'. OEM lug nut holes have a curved seat, while VOLK wheels have a 60 degree v-shaped seat. Anyways, check out this link for some high quality locks. Hope this helps.

Even at 60 grams x 20 lugs, that's only 2.6 lbs. So you'd save what, 1.6 lbs? Whoop de shit.

How can I tell what lugs and locks will work with the set of Velox PG-5S I ordered? The only lug-related specs I ever see on wheels are the PCD.

OEM locks and McGard(or anything with that similar deisgn) are jokes. i've seen how easily they get busted. with the right tools, it takes less than 1min per lock if they dont have to be careful(a.k.a. theives). OEM lock keys are dirt cheap to buy anywaz. Most professional theives have a set of OEM lock keys and McGard keys, coz that's what most people use. Unless your purpose is to prevent theft from high school kids, those locks wont do you any good).

I am using the lock recommended by ex-cons. (dunno the brand, the box is in my storage). He told me unless they have orders for that particular wheels, usually they will just move on because it takes a "too long" to bust those locks. for them, over 3 or 4min to steal your wheels is eternity.

Being in the automotive business I see it about once a week where a customer loses the key to there wheel lock and we have to get them off. At this point I have yet to come across a wheel lock I can't get off in under a minute, and I am not a thief who is motivated. IMO wheel locks are all jokes with a few tools that aren't that expensive you can get any wheel lock off with no damage done to the wheels. Before you spend a lot of money on wheel locks just take out extra insurance for your wheels and tires through your insurance company, make sure you allow enough to cover any deductable. Use some lame wheel lock that will keep "most" people away, but the bottom line is if they want your wheels they're going to take them no matter what wheel lock you have.

Very true... they can also steal the whole car by towing it away and take whatever they want later.

i rather take my chance than having to that hilarious thing on everytime i park my car.

the ones i have is called Alpina GT SIMBOL.Z. i cant find the website on it. try searching on the web, maybe you guys have better luck then me.

just like TigerGuy said, if they really want your car, it's close to impossible to prevent it. all you can do is to make them work harder and take them more time. also, if you are really really panaroid, get some kind of tracking device on your car.

Your best defense is still just a deterrent . .. but it is better than nothing. I am sure not going to make it any easier for a thief.
