I know someone who had the Proxies and said they get hard and loose their performance. The Avid V4s are great tires. Take a look at Avon Tech M550s as well.

I have the proxes 4 and I must say that I would take them over any other tire. The performance is unmatched, and they have good traction.

I had the Yokos and liked them a lot, but after getting two flats within about six weeks (reason unknown), I decided to try out the Bridgestone 960AS.

During the first 100 miles, I thought that the Bridgestones were a little squirrely, but I think that was due to the waxy feeling that new tires have. After a week of driving they settled down and are very predictable.

Between the Yokos and the Bridgestones, I would say that the Bridgestones have slightly better dry grip. I haven't had a chance to drive them in the rain yet. The Bridgestones are also W rated for whatever that's worth (it didn't seem to mean much for the original Michelins)

I'd add the Bridgestones to your list.

I'm curious why/how you narrowed your choice to these two tires.

they just seem to be brought up a lot on this board and have gotten good reviews from what i've read. i don't know what else to base a decision on. i can't really take them on test drives, though i'd like to
