Opinions on OEM Michelins

Opinions on OEM Michelins
What is everyone's opinions on the OEM Michelins? From what I've heard on other cars (like the TL) they aren't very good tires at all (performance or all-season)... besides good treadwear and getting good gas mileage (low rolling resistance).

For any type of aggressive driving, they stink.

Quite frankly they are only good at:
1) Fuel efficiency
2) Long mileage
3) Very predictable slipping
4) Ride quality
If you're looking for more grip, go with something else.

I think Iceman was one of the people who talked about it, and who felt that just about anything else would give a better ride.

My Acura GS-R came with Michelins XGT... by far the worst tire ever made. The kicker is, it was the most expensive in it's class (OEM size). They were terrible in the rain, couldn't get traction in the cold, your life was over in the snow, and they wore out quickly. There was nothing good about that tire.
But I'm sure Williams isn't complaining.

sad to say but every tire manufacturer have good tires and weak ones. You have to really do your research on every model. Can't just say "well it's an ____ , must be a good tire"
Note: the stock michelins are like middle of the road perfromance wise for all season tires, not even at the top of that list so there is a lot to b egained by switching out.

I think that the stockers suck if you like to drive for fun once in a while. They're great for all-season tires, but I don't need those here. While they are tires that have high quality, good ride comfort, long tread life, and decent performance for what they're worth, I still can't justify the $176/tire replacement price. I'm game for the Yoko ES100 in a hurry in the 225/45 setup.

lol predictable slipping... sharp turns at 30 mph would cause the tires to slide out... though I am in no way endorsing that kind of driving - keep that stuff to parking lots! I learned that the hard way...

The other reason you see a lot of reviews on tirerack on them is that they are used too much. The TL-S, CL-S, and TSX all use them. I figure maybe Honda could have figured out that this is a little bit more of a performance-oriented public that they're selling the TSX to. Then they could have put some better performing tires on there than some all-seasons.

At like 500 miles on my GS-R, I had to purchase a new one, because one of them had a cut in the sidewall. I can't believe that they wanted $126 for that crap.

The tires are better then I was expecting. After reading all of the complaints and poor reviews I thought I would have to get new tires within the first few hundred miles. But it turned out they aren't horrible. They aren't in any way a good tire, but not a really bad one either. When one of my tires needs to be replaced I'll probably replace all of them but for now they are ok for normal driving.
Warning - The tires do not like aggressive turning. (i.e getting on an exit ramp way to fast or making a turn at 40+mph)

Yeah, I agree, they did suck big time. I actually got 66,000 miles out of my set, but I was happy to finally get rid of them. They were horrible the first winter I had my GS-R, and they just got worse and worse as time went on.
