New tires.....directional a problem?

Hey I am looking to get new tires, my stockies have lasted me 60k. (may be the only good things about the stock tires)

I have narrowed down my search to either the Avon M550s, KuhmosECSTA ASX, Sumitomo HTR+, Continental ContiExtremeContacts, and the Yokohama Avid V4S in the stock 215/50 17 size. I am leaning towards the Avons because of the great reviews, but I saw on tirerack that they are directional tires....so are the Yokohamas.

I drive anywhere from 24k - 28k a year, so I don't know if this will be an issue. I of course know that I will not get the same tread wear as I did with the stocks, but the longer the better.

Anyone think this will be a big issue if I get directional tires? Anyone want to steer me at another tire? I am looking to purcahse this weekend.

I don't know anything about directional stuff, but I am looking at Bridgestone Turanzas and Potenzas in OEM size, if that helps at all. I'll be getting new tires in the spring.

I'm currently running Yok AVIDs H4s on 225/40/18's. They are directional. No problems. I rotate every 5K (keeping the direction of the tread the same).

You just move the fronts to the rear and rear to the fronts, not changing sides. It really isn't that big of a deal. Now if you were going to run summer tires, then after the first rotation, you would want to switch tires across the axle. I did this and I'm getting a lot of wear out of my ES100s. The same could be done for A/S tires too. You can't go wrong with the M550s or the V4S

I did that too when I had 18" wheels on my Prelude, I racked up about 36k miles on those summer tires even with about -2.5 degrees of camber.

exactly what moda_way said. directionals will help propel you forward but just move 'em from front to back when rotating the wheels. i've got directionals on my winter tires and just need my summer ones to wear out be4 getting new ones there.

yeah, if i went with the directionals, I would definitely try and rotate (front to back) every 5k. I just didn't know if it affected longevity keeping the tires on the same side instead of cross axle.

Thanks guys.
