Neuspeed front tie bar install help

I tried to put my new Neuspeed front strut tie bar on my TSX last night and couldn't. It seems like the bar is almost a 1/4" too long. To anyone who has installed this bar, do you have any helpful hints as to how to get this thing on? I just can't bend it enough to get it over the bolts.

Do I really need to loosen the struts? If so, wouldn't this stress the outside bolts when I tighten everything back down?

Thanks.

its is a pain in the butt to get on the first time. Make sure you're parked on level ground, wheels straight. Fit the holes of one end of the bar onto the bolts just a bit so it won't pop off, but isn't fully seated. Then go to the other side and try to push the tie bar just enough to slip the holes over the bolts. Even if it wont go all the way in as long as it'll catch you're good. Then progressively work the ends of the bar down onto the bolts. If you can thread the nuts, you can use those to pull the bar down.

I installed my comptech rear sway last week. Sorry Dan, I can't say that I had the same misinterpritation of the bushings, but I did install the bar upside down at first . It was a BITCH to get back out then flip over.

Thanks for the tip Xizor. I'll try again tonight.

Just like X said. Do one side at a time. I actually had to bend down some of my AC lines on the passenger side because they were in the way.

Also, another thing to note is to make sure that you are actually turning the bolt and making it catch on the threads of the strut. The holes on the strut tie bar are very deep and when you put a ratchet in there, it sometimes feels like you are turning the bolt. When in actuality the end of the bolt is not even locked into the ratchet because you have not pushed it down far enough. Hope this makes sense.

If you have more questions, then PM Dan, he is the resident Suspension Bar installation expert.

the bar is a little tough to put on. i raised my front a little and then put the bar on. i don't thing it has any adverse effects ( the install guide says you can). it is such a pain in the ass, but it does look pretty nice. post some pics for us when you're done.

Loosening the existing tie bar and strut helped me align the bar. Also I jacked up the car and down and couple of times to help line the bar up. It is a PITA.

I got the bar on last night. The first time I tried it the car was on jack stands with the wheels off. Last night the car was on all four tires. This made it a whole lot easier. Thanks for the advice.

That just shows you how much the chassis flexes under load.

hey, i'm so no one should be surprised. now, if only i could use smilies instead of words like you guys. although, that might violate our pw union rules and junk would feel bad and start a pw thread on that.

now get back on topic!

arch, glad we could help. notice any change in handling?

I didn't think I would notice much of a change, but I do. The outer front wheel in a turn seems to be pushing down into the road as opposed to the outside of the turn. There is very little loss of traction. Of course, I am also riding on Konis, Eibach Pro Kits, and BF Goodrich g-force KDW 2 - 225/45/18s, but I do notice the additional strength the Neuspeed bar adds.

I used two jacks today and elevated the wheels about an inch off the ground and it fit fine, but at first it was a bitch fitting it.
